RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

Riggers its just a matter of preference. I run mine on the right, the left side would work well too. For sport hydros left side is best, and for monos right side is best

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

Yes way more. Saw Setups pull a rediculous amount of current. If you make more than 2-3 passes you run the risk of burning up the lipo's, esc, or motor. The motor, and esc, were over amped for...

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

you could take a few mm off just to be safe. It's been awhile since I've used Nixx.

Believe me the Aqua hull was pulling way more than 60A when it went 64mph. It also has 14.8v nominal resulting...

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

You should be able to run it as is. You will most likely be limited in runtime due to the old cells and their discharge rate. How hot did things get with the 6 cells?

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

Ah, sorry I was thinking 7s 5000kv on 2s. With only 3500kv, you can leave it at 40mm if you use only 7.4v LiPo. It's awfully low kv for a rigger on 2s.

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

Lifter props are high pitched. A high pitched prop running that extremely inefficient motor may cause you problems.

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

OSE is one week for me.

Going from 40mm to 30mm is a long way. If you do this you will not keep the same pitch ratio. The ratio will be much greater and you will turn the prop in to a lifter...

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

Your statement is Incorrect, and I will argue it.

The purpose of adding epoxy to the wood is to have a water proof finsh. The strength of this finish must resist chipping, bumps, heat, and allow...

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

Do not thin epoxy by using other solutions. Doing so weakens the protection of the epoxy making it less useful. To apply epoxy as a sealing coat, use heat from a blow dryer or heat gun to thin it...

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

Wire both of your packs together in parallel to achieve 4200mAh @ 15C. You can still use the X430. Watch heat carefully, your packs will be the first to exceed 140F. When looking for packs, look for...

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

I'm getting confused.

If you are going to run your boat using 11.1v packs, you have to choose a motor that will be able to deliver the RPM's. If you choose a 2s motor and run 3s-11.1v you...

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

If you run 11.1v, use a Feigao 10s motor. This will give you nearly the same RPM's as if you were to run 2s. But you will be running at a lower current and have longer run times per mAh.

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

Wait a minute, 11.1v. You will need another motor hold on

Will you run 11.1v always? I was under the impression 7.4v would be run

Feigao 6s on the 100A ESC. A member in my club runs a 6s on a cuda 80A ESC

Use an X430 prop

It will be fast

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

I've never used anything that thin, perhaps it will work. What power are you putting in this again, brushed? Perhaps it should work well for a brushed setup.

The strut looks very deep, maybe...

As TT said, can you adjust the strut? As of now it looks far too deep.

Angled at the bottom.

Keep the build photos coming. I'm mostly interested in the boom to sponson attachment. I'm looking for all the different ways this is done.

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

Post them.

What motor will you use? Will you race this?
If you are on a budget the Feigao 6s would work well.

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

I've got a 2 cell LiPo rigger and it does 55mph and does not draw anywhere near 120A. More like 80 and it is 27" long. On 11.1v that would only be 50A. I'm running a motor that is only 48mm long...

RE: Another Outrigger Predator project!

I actually have one on the way to put in a surfer for a "fun" project. Or something for the girl friend to run. :D It may be a bit small for what you need but should work. I'd start with a small...
