Well, realistically speaking, the tape could possibly add a few grams. But it definitely outweighs the cons of tire expansion, and a denser foam will most likely weigh more anyway. For Mojave's...

Ballooning depends on the tire compound/ foam combo. You can run any tires you want Mojave, just tape the insides of them with some good duct tape and they wont balloon anymore:).
