RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

High Bruce, Let's see. I built your Venture, Flying King, Wonder and didn't you have something to do with the Four Star? I still have two unopened Venture kits. One being the very first kit that...

RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

Several years ago I built Bruce's Delta Vortex. Great kit. Can't believe he's still selling for $149. You couldn't buy the wood for that price. Again, great kit

RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

If you are talking about the Delta Fighter 90 ARF, then they are the same. The quality is what you would "expect" from an ARF, but dimensionally and aerodynamically, the same. It was Bruce's design...

RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

If you have issues with the engine inflight after it gets hot, the earlier OS91s had a heat transfer into the needle valve housing issue. That heat caused vapor(air bubbles) to form in the line...

RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

The Vortex builds nose heavy and it is common to need weight aft. A gas engine would only exacerbate this condition. My Vortex with a YS 61 two-stroke flies great.

RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

This thread has a lot of good info. Of course starting at post #102 is the best(:)Just kidding, that happens to be my DV). A couple of observations from my retract gear build. 1)Unlike Salmonbug,...

RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

Do you mean post 164 in this thread? Maybe I missed your plane's description there.

RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

My Delta Vortex(build pics back in post #102, page 5 of this thread) hasn't been out for months. Today I took her out for two flights. What a sweet plane. I should fly her more often than I do. ...

RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

I feel you are not totally serious about the DynaJet. I recall that when I had one, it only had about 4 to 4 1/2lbs thrust. But the noise would probably add about 75mph to the WOW factor.

You must be looking at a different website than the one I get, http://www.btemodels.com/vortex.html . It says still out of stock.

RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

First of all Salmonbug, great to see you posting again. Hope things are improving for you.

Your concern for the exhaust residue is valid. However, on all my planes(Vortex included), I always...

RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

Check posts #103 and #111 in this thread for pics of the OS 91 FX(#103 and #104) and the YS 61(#111). Both of them are mounted 90 degrees to the side and the exhuast cleared well with each. I would...

RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

Thought I would update my Delta Vortex build and experiences. This aircraft has retract gear which made the fuel tank location to be back in the center of the wing as the nose gear took the original...

RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

The last month has been a bit frustrating. First, the Spring Air retract gear was substandard and had to be replaced with Robart struts still using the installed Spring Air retract actuators. Then...

RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

Oh, Spring Air is alive and well. Go to http://www.retracts.com/. I bought the 700 series with 3/8" struts. Presently the supplier for the 3/8" struts is not that great and I'm changing to the...

RE: BTE Delta Vortex Construction Photos

As I mentioned just above, I have been flying a Delta Fighter 90(Vortex ARF from a few years ago) and it required 16 oz of lead in the tail. I decided to use some heavier materials and liberal epoxy...
