You could try asking how it's done on the F/F forums, they use tissue over mylar films and seem to get a prety good result...

In the old days, when the scale modellers applied silk over tissue, the used thinned out wallpaper paste. Suggest you try something similar on a test piece first, the tissue will wrinkle, but should...
