Reckon you've got half the answer. Remove the cap strips above and below the spars, lay a FULL LENGTH piece of (preferably) spruce or bass top and bottom about the size of the balsa bits you have,...

If your spar is balsa, then it will break where your brackets are. I have done a similar thing with my UPF, but made the bracket (24#galv steel) fold around the spar then bolt through on the spar...

Depends what you are talking about Hank. 'Frise' ailerons have that projecting leading edge going down on the up going aileron to help balance the drag of the up aileron, 'Differential' ailerons rely...
