Try filling the diff with hot glue. Its free and if you dont like the locking action it provides its simple to remove.

The RC damage was completely and utterly your fault so yes, you shoud pay for the damages. Any cop would tell you not to drive your toys on the road.

5x8, but they only last a few runs. You really need 5x11 bearing carriers if you want to use bearings.

The old black xl-1 ESC with blue heatsinks? Its rated down to 17t but that was when it came out years ago. I would use a nice 19t motor like this.

You broke your servo.

That white round thinger that attaches to your servo and steering links is the servo saver. You should be able to see the spring inside it.
