It's not just weight, but pack volume as well......My new KC has one of Bennie's new Pegasus HPAS's on it....it ships with a 10 cell, 600maH AA-size Nicad Pack which fits perfectly under...

You are absolutely right.........damaging the pack, which is very easy with the shrink wrapped lipos, and charging without a cell balancer I believe are the two culprits behind the fires...
