RE: RCGF Engines

Cap, yeah I thought of that. I used quality aircraft ply. I plan on also using some flat washers and some blue locktight. I though about aluminum or even steal, but, the thought of that wire...

RE: RCGF Engines

I just finished the engine set up on the C47 Im building. Here is an idea I had for the choke. I used some 4-40 rod with a z bend to hook into the choke arm. Then I ran the rod through a ply...

RE: RCGF Engines

Walked into what? Your wrong idea about? If your talking 4 cycle, then yes. You measure the entire stroke from bottom to top because you have a seperate valve that shuts when the piston reaches...

RE: RCGF Engines

Oupagryse is correct, on a two stroke engine, you measure the compression chamber from the top of the exhaust port. I work with two stroke engines in my line of business and thats the way to do it...

RE: RCGF Engines

I doubt wife would allow me to take up precious cargo space for something like a RC plane lol so I guess if I do, it will be to observe. But if Im in town, I will take advantage of the offer.

RE: RCGF Engines

Yup, Captmicom is correct. Its kinda fool proof :) Just put it back the way you took it apart. Only thing I will add is, when you put it back together, use some light lubricant on the seal lips....

RE: RCGF Engines

If you do it correctly. no heat will be needed. Ive done it both ways for years. I have yet to ruin a part. The main thing is, if your putting it into the rear cover, use a socket to rest on...

RE: RCGF Engines

Most of those bearings are a tight fit but not entirely pressed on. I use a deep well socket that will slip over the shaft to tap them back into place. Or, depending on the particular model....

RE: RCGF Engines

Ive been in the business of 2 cycle engines for 30+ years. I always check the timing on my engines. An engine with too high of a timing can preignite. Ive seem my fair share of holes melted...

RE: RCGF Engines

Move the landing gear to top of fuse? :D:D:D:)

Seriously though, sounds like it might be a fuel problem. I would check all fuel lines for kinks, pinholes, or looseness. I would also check...

RE: RCGF Engines

Sounds like the inlet needle and diaphram are out of adjustment or sticking. I have worked on small engines for 30 plus years and its been my experience, trash can the carb and get another one. ...

RE: RCGF Engines

I have found most carbs use about the same carb kit. Unless you get into the 60cc or bigger. So a one size kit fits all might work. Check with your local small engine shop. Just take the carb...

RE: RCGF Engines

Av8tor is correct. Simply rotating the cyl does not do a thing as far as reversing the engine direction. There are three ways to achieve reverse rotation.

1. You can cut a new key way in...

RE: RCGF Engines

I will give this a try on my next model and keep up with battery condition after each flight. Makes sense. It would be nice to know if I had a complete radio failure that my throttle might come...

Here are a couple pictures of the muffler clearance issues I had with both NIB 26's. My question is, if I grind some of the cooling fins off for the muffler can to clear the engine, will that void...
