RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

It wouldn't hurt to put those big wheels on your plane. (2 1/2 - 2 3/4) At least for the spring. I use these sizes on the grass all the time. Try to find some wheels that are lighter? The Dave Browns...

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

Keep flying... That left thumb will join in there soon. Then when you fly a three channel plane... it will drive you nuts. I don't have any planes without ailerons for that very reason. I suppose if...

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

I use like 8 #64 rubber bands. Two criss cross, two straight, Two criss cross, and two straight.

I measure the wing to get it square and even on the fuselage and then draw a reference with a...

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

I will not make it to toledo this year. I've got a house full of furniture to do something with and my son is supposed to help me move it about then.

Enjoy,

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

Keep in mind that you don't need very much swing on your nose wheel because it is so close to the main wheels.

The nose wheel just needs to turn probably 7 degrees to the right or left. If it is...

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

I fuel proof the tank compartmentby pouring some thinned 30 min epoxy into the campartment and then roll and tip the plane around to have it cover the interior.

Enjoy,

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

I found it in the manual. See picture

The reason I'm making conversation is I don't think they will have the big round wheels unless there's a loose one in a junk box or something?

You...

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

I have used the double arm type on the ailerons and also the four arm job with two arms cut off.

Are they wanting you to use the wheel so you can offset the connection points forward to give you...

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

They must put those little round wheels on the servo's for shipping. I don't use them. I use the arm type. You can buy them at better hobby shops for Dubro that fit either Futaba or Hitec (the only...

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

The image is called a avatar. Yours must be no larger than 85 pixels by 85 pixels.

The Champ picture I had was 600 X 480. I used a re sizer program to reduce it down to 85 by 59 or something...

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

Striderjq,

Yes you can put your wing in the miter saw or table saw and cut in two. A straight wing will need ailerons though.

Shim each side of the wing equal amounts so your cut will...

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

Where the overlap is, have the top covering straight in that area before you apply the covering. Trim at the trailing edge and tips

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

The saddle area is prone to have fuel residue eventually. Therefore, the saddle area should be fuel proofed. I use epoxy. I lap the covering over on the saddle also. Some of my planes have tape and...

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

No washout or washin is ok but the washout is there to make sure you do not have any wash in.

Wash out makes the root of the wing stall first so you still have aileron control through the stall....

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

In this case, you should leave the tip extensions like they are in the pictures...

From a design aspect, these little extensions at the tip are to keep the aileron from fluttering. If ailerons...

RE: G.P. PT 40 MK 2 TRAINER BUILD

It will be OK to just make it fit. Where it goes into the ailerons will be farther out is all.

You can but the light weight plaster type spackling for walls in your house and fill in all the...
