RE: Golf ball dimples

actually- an electric motor -which has max torque at ZERO rpm -is a very desireable setup for driving a propeller -
far better than an IC engine when instant performance is req'd
I have ...

RE: Golf ball dimples

Watts came up with horsepower - unfortunately, people have misunderstood it since it's inception
Why couldn't he have come up with a more simple direct equasion?
I guess at the time...

RE: Golf ball dimples

Here is a another bit of info-
as aircraft get smaller, the wing loading becomes more critical drag- not worth consideration
As a plane gets larger, the powerloading becomes more...

RE: Golf ball dimples

On JEOPARDY tonight , the following question was asked
Question-When a batter hits the ball - he hopefully produces backspin on the ball.
>The backspin cause the air over the top of the ball to...

RE: Golf ball dimples

well sorta -but I also get a chance to look for the real problems -which never seem to be related to the airfoil selected.
weight , balance, bending under load etc., are the usual suspects.

RE: Golf ball dimples

If I feel an airfoil is not correct - I just take a time out and have a drink-
Usually the airfoil has now improved
If not - I lighten the plane -smaller batteries etc-
that usually...

with no gravity -why needs to fly?
plus
everything weighs the same

Surprised that point was missed also- no gravity= no atmosphere.
I wonder which airfoil works best wif no gravity?

RE: Golf ball dimples

Yup - all kinds of drag- depending on what the source or what the result etc., we give it a "speshial" name -but still - we are simply working with low pressure.
good low pressure n bad...

RE: Golf ball dimples

So the lifting surface becomes a drag surface -
OK
Ot lets say the low pressure which was on th top surface simlply becomes VERY low pressure as the wing rotates.
T/F?
The lift is then...

RE: Golf ball dimples

A drag race does not necessarily have a drag queen at the event. Also the sticklers for "kerect" aerodynamic terninology don't all agree on what is parasitic or induced or transitory.
I...

RE: Golf ball dimples

As long as we are all guessing
-try this guess
A worn golf ball may not store as much energy (from the club) .
old balls may lose some of their "bounce"
(Don't we know it)
Distance...
