No i have yet to test them in a car,, But i have bench tested them using a High output electric motor that runs at 40,000 rpm. and the gears held up quite well, I have yet to design the reverse for...

I'm not quite sure yet on this open box design. I may design a sealed unit for the 2 & 3 speeds as well, And if so it then can filled with oil/gear lube, Not to mention it would keep all the elements...

Yeah!!! I would think foam board would be a little unstable to build them solid wood welding jigs around,
