What position is your prop when the piston is just "bumping" the begining of the compression stroke? - I'm just wondering where it would be if there was a dead-stick landing.

I use a Graupner 13.5 X 8 Has a larger blade surface compared to the APC. It pulls my 9.6 Lb plane around with authority and less flex than the Airscrew. I have had some good hard landings on and...

PilotLight, I think you may be on to something... What else could explain why some have "perfect" running engines without pumps and hacking off needle valves.
Maybe a new poll is in order?

Well after 3 FLAWLESS running flights, my 91 FX finally does what it supposed to. I cut the needle valve off, re-mounted, and this engine is like NIGHT & DAY.
Not a sputter or dead stick, and...

I cut my needle valve off and mounted it to the fire-wall last night. Will see what happens this weekend. Fingers crossed

I wonder if it is possible the carb is sucking air through the casing. Didn't the O.S .46 when it first came out have this problem? I heard of coating the remote valve with clear nail...
