RE: CoroZag .25 Plan

Sorry for the hassle, but the links died. The plan is now hosted here: http://www.combat-il.com/corozag_1.0.pdf.

The videos... I can't find those around any more. Sorry.

RE: CoroZag .25 Plan

Since there's no rudder you can't really taxi, so landing gear would mostly just add some drag. (And it's not the fastest plane out there as it is.) The simple little skid does a fine job.

RE: CoroZag .25 Plan

Thanks. The plane has survived the test of time - I'm still flying one. If you want to build one - my accumulated experience is to use sturdy material for the firewall. I use the thicker type of...

RE: BUHOR

Thanks for the good report! I was wondering.

Flexible landing gear springs without any damping devices would probably give most landings a comical hop. I'd guess the springs should be stiff...

RE: BUHOR

The asymmetrical wing could cause trim problems but not flutter.

The aileron tip clipping is something I've tried in the past but it never did me much good.

One thing I forgot to mention in...

RE: BUHOR

Looks like your aileron links are too flexible. Maybe use a stronger servo, and definitely loose those bends in the actuator rods. Make sure the links are tight, and there's no slack anywhere. (I...

RE: I Built a Mugi Evo Tonight

That launch technique looks like a good way to get a close haircut. Careful guys!

RE: Gnat SPAD has altitude hunting problems

By the way, the trivial answer to your question would be to move the CG forward (or wing backward) a little bit to increase stability. I assume you're satisfied that this is not your problem?

RE: Gnat SPAD has altitude hunting problems

I built one a few weeks ago with a 0.25LA. Had to strap the battery pack all the way back, right next to the rudder. It was pitching up in the maiden because I had too much ron reflex. Aligned the...

RE: New to SPAD - Questions

I haven't flown the spa3d myself, but I looked back at your pix and it looks like you didn't add the flat fuse that the latest plans at STTB show. Without the flat fuse it surely won't do anything...

RE: New to SPAD - Questions

Look here:

Go to Material, Flashing & Gluing.

I've never done anything I'd classify as a go fast. All of this spa3d talking...

RE: New to SPAD - Questions

Thanks for the report. It's not an easy plane to fly, so expect to change a handful of props and cut a few engine mounts as you go.

I don't know what a go fast is, but I'll try to look it up...

RE: New to SPAD - Questions

Now I see that you screwed on the horizontal stab backwards. Looks a little strange but it should work OK. The plastic engine mount is well proven, safe and easy to do, so I'd stick with it.

RE: New to SPAD - Questions

Looks great! My very minor observations:
- Most spaders use vinyl stickers for decorations. I use the sticky shelf coating stuff. Painting is harder to do and it might not survive fuel drips.
-...

RE: New to SPAD - Questions

Hey! You forgot the pix!

Congratulations on your first SPAD flight.

Now I can reflect and tell you that three years ago my very first SPAD attempt was a SPA3DT as a second airplane for my...

RE: New to SPAD - Questions

Two servos for the rons, not one. If you use one it's got to be a full sized metal gear or better.

I'd probably mount them on both sides of the channel just for symmetry. Laying down on the wing...

RE: New to SPAD - Questions

A screw through the coro into the U channel does the job. You should smack a small square of PVC on the coro first, and tighten the screw until the coro just starts to crush.

You could tape the...

RE: 4mm coro, combat, .25?

Just by chance, a couple of weeks ago I got to see a HOR with a .25FX, with wheels and rudder mixing.

Since the HOR doesn't have much of a fuse, the rudder doesn't really add much to the flying...

HOR 0.25 is also great. It's what I...

RE: New to SPAD - Questions

After rereading your post, cooperfly, I think you might have misunderstood the flute cutout hinge concept. You don't just slit the flute. You have to remove the whole top of one flute.

RE: New to SPAD - Questions

You should cut out just one flute for a hinge. I used to worry about the range since my 4 mm coro has small flutes, but today, some 20 spads later, I say you should cut just one flute. Simply fold...

RE: 4mm coro, combat, .25?

Isn't the Gnat perfect for what you need? It uses only 4 mm and it looks real simple to build, which is just what you need for club combat.

I've never built one myself, but I think I've read...

RE: New to SPAD - Questions

Repay for help here is done by posting pictures of your airplane and writing a flight report. Good luck!
