1) 3s 2200 was too small. Replaced with a 3s 2700 and now get +-6 minutes with the two Suppo 2217/8s.
Had to redesign the battery tray for the 2700 but...

You can take some precautions during your build...

You can take some precautions during your build to lighten her up. Drilling lightening holes helps quite a lot as there's really no reason for her to be built as heavily when you're flying electric....

It went together easily and it flies very, very well. It's built VERY light so don't expect it...

If you did, you'd see that of everything I listed, only 2 are "common problems". The rest are optional upgrades that apply to ANY vehicle.

I guess RPM doesn't...

Better battery pack is always an upgrade.

The shock caps on the Traxxas plastic shocks are famous for popping off, spilling all your oil. The aluminum shock caps are a great, inexpensive...

For trucks, there are a few options.

The Tamiya CC01 is always a fun, bombproof option for anyone. It looks like a real car, so your son may really like that, and they just released the CC01...

No not at all. There's absolutely nothing wrong with brushed motors. Brushless is the new "thing", tho. It would be perfectly fine on stock power.
