hip replacement

Cub Man, all the best with your hip repairs.

We've had several people here get those done and they've all bounced back in short order like spring chickens.

On with it, and we should all be...

The clipped wing Cub is intended to be aerobatic, not just a lazy flier. That calls for some power.

My first Sig 1/4 clipped wing Cub had an O.S. 1.08 FSR engine in it. That was more than enough...

Cub Man, 2 water rudders are better than 1. However, they only work when taxiing upwind. Going downwind they won't work. You need to haul back on the elevator stick to get the nose high and keep it...

Fly good with a clipped wing? Great is more like it.

My 1/4 size was the Sig, built with the 1 piece wing, flown with wings and floats. Power was an O.S. 1.08 FSR with a 15-8 prop (largest 2...

That's roughly the size of the one piece wing on the Sig 1/4 clipped wing Cub.

BUSA uses a two piece wing, which could easily be clipped although that does not appear to be what you have.

All...

RE: ***CUB BROTHERHOOD***

The Sig 1/4 size Cubs are what we call stand off scale. There are tons of things which separate them from true scale, both clipped wing and full span versions.

In any case, I've had the clipped...

RE: ***CUB BROTHERHOOD***

Crash, you could be right!!

Takes less time and is easier to do than to explain. Tried lots of ways to simplify and speed up the use of the stuff over many years. You can do fewer steps, get...

RE: ***CUB BROTHERHOOD***

Having used Koveral with dope since about 1986 with no issues, here're a few ideas that work.

As usual, make a sketch of your parts layout on a small paper diagram to test placement before...

RE: ***CUB BROTHERHOOD***

Years ago Sig had available for sale a latex pilot figure which was a model of Hazel. You may still find one somehwere. I've seen them on occasion at swap meets and on ebay.

RE: ***CUB BROTHERHOOD***

You are quite corret. There is absolutely nothing that matches or even comes close to a proper doped, fabric finish. Not only do you not have wrinkles now, you never will either.

If you take one...

RE: ***CUB BROTHERHOOD***

Where did you get those??

Nelitz' J-3 Cub is 1/3 scale.

I've got a copy of the 1/3 size. Would be nice to have it in 1/4 size too.

Whenever I dope a fabric covered model, I finsih off with a clear coat following application of the graphics.

First, a light spay goes on to prevent destruction of the vinyl. Following that, you...

RE: ***CUB BROTHERHOOD***

Ran my Sig 1/4 size clipped wing Cub with an O.S. 1.08FSR on both wheels and floats. Way, way more than enough power. Your DL 20 will be fine.

In fact, on floats, with full up elevator and...
