That should work fine! An air extracting ring between fuselage and cowl is the most effective. If your carb needs a new high needle tune (richer) you will know how effective the change was.

Nice setup. Try to get the rear to stay about 1/4" clear of the fuselage. If the cowl can have the same 1/4" gap, air extraction would be great and there will be no stagnant hot air behind the engine...
