feed rate is heat generation relevant, you pump too much oil into a gasser it cools off the muff and the oil to the point it does not boil and vaporize, then you get one hell of a mess on the fuze...

@SkyKnight, as seen in the pic above you get plenty of smoke without the necessity to cut it with anything.

@Wayne22, i can't speak for the others but i don't put my face directly up the tail...

had to do some digging to find smoke pics but this is my 1/4 scale Extra 300 with the lamp oil.

only when thinned 3-1 with diesel or kero, it's to thick without the cut, I've used allot of it mixing a quart with 3 quarts diesel and it's a pretty fair smoke but messy and has a foul smell both if...

currently my smoke oil has Juniper Breeze scent in it, i don't own any Apple Cobbler or I'd be willing to try it. it makes any spills have a much less petroleum smell. and the scent of the flight...

the in house smoke fluids are very costly because they are designed for indoor use with reduce smell/CO2/C2O/etc..... they are also made to be quick in dispersement and have no lingering when outside...

it does have sorta the same smell as the Kero, but not as strong, but the density of the smoke is wonderful.

cheapest most dense smoke I've found is from pure paraffin oil (lamp oil) you can get it by the gallon at Lowes for 3 bucks. I've used it in gassers too for years with no problems.
