RE: Power generator

Most likely - but what kind of charger do you have? If it's 600 watts or less I don't see why it shouldn't work.

Your lawn mower battery could probably put out around 50 watts continuous.

RE: New Li-Ion Technology

Energy density still low compared to gas. We don't need higher power density, we need more energy density.

RE: Testing a Motor

If you have a multimeter take the resistance between all of the wires, in all combinations possible (two at a time). They should all read the same resistance. If any combination is an open circuit...

RE: Nitro vs Electric

Both nitro and electric are powerful enough IMO.

What REALLY matters is what you ENJOY more. They are toys!

That said I like running electric, but watching nitro.. Not because I am lazy...

RE: Wire Length

Shorter means less power lost to heat... More stable power to the components. Less wire, less resistance. So if you don't need all the wire and are capable of putting on new connectors then have at...

RE: 20 to 25 CELL DUCTED FAN SETUP?

My skin resistance is only 10k ohms dry and 500 ohms wet... Not 500k ohms as the one post suggests. 500k might be lightly brushing a wire, when I measured 10k ohms I was gripping it like I'd work on...

RE: RC Pet Peeves

When people judge what you spend your money on. I've seen it on the forums and from family. In laws spend money on smokes and gambling, but it's terrible if the son and law spends 2% of his income...

RE: 20 to 25 CELL DUCTED FAN SETUP?

I imagine you'd have to jump to commercial voltages (think VFDs) which is around 400 volts. The device you want is quite dangerous, both the voltage and EDF itself... I'd be surprised to see a...

RE: Any fan powerful enough for this plane?

How loud is the DS-94-HST? I am very close to purchasing one but am a bit concerned about sound levels.

RE: Any fan powerful enough for this plane?

I'm no expert in large EDFs, but I would definitely at least check out the DS-94-HST.

RE: Looking for a good rc for my son

Traxxas Stampede. I'd love to suggest the summit but this is more in your price range. Electric not nitro though.

RE: dumb me/electric

It should take a bit over an hour if you're charging at 1C and the battery was depleted. You're putting .6 amps into a battery with ~ .6 ah (amp hours) of capacity.

RE: Need info on a replacement motor

Instead of a current measurement, you could always use the good old finger test - is the motor hot? If it's only a little warm it can likely handle a bigger prop.

The hacker has a lower KV. ...

RE: Need info on a replacement motor

Would need to know prop size and lipo setup (2S or 3S) like guver hit on.

Conversely you could use "ecalc". Just google "ecalc prop". It's a nifty calculator where you can put in your...

I agree with Matt. Attacking likely a majority of the club is a terrible idea. The posts about being friendly and respectful seem right on. If people seem interested ask if they want to help out,...

Are there any good props made in the US?

I plan to do some testing on ACP props and after I get some data I plan to get something "sexy" (and expensive) like a Mejzlik.

All the good props seem to be made in Europe. Are there any good...

RE: LiPo battery low voltage

I've heard damaged packs have a higher resistance. Lowers your max discharge and heat dissipated is based on i^2*r. I haven't personally messed around with over discharged packs but be careful! I'd...

Yeah, I am lucky that my LHS has prices similar to what I find online, and it's 10 minutes away. It is small, but what I love about it is it's locally owned and operated.

I...

RE: Attaching a 10mm prop to a 8mm motor shaft.

I'll definitely post the results! I'll take a look at the Neu prop adapters. Thanks for the heads up.

I picked that motor since it had decently high watt ratings and some low KV ratings. ...

RE: Attaching a 10mm prop to a 8mm motor shaft.

I think I found a collet that adapts to 8mm motor shaft and uses 3/8" (approx 10mm) props on tower hobbies. I plan to get around a 22" prop and meter/TC the setup in a fixture. In my eyes collets are...

Attaching a 10mm prop to a 8mm motor shaft.

Hello,

I bought a Neumotor 1924 and most props (like a Xoar PJA prop) I am interested in are 10mm. I am at a bit of a loss of how I safely connect the prop to the motor in a way I don't get...
