RE: Changes to the Turbine Waiver test...

Nope - you got that bass-ackwards ... since it's the JPO and you who support the change in rules, you can donate your equipment. I'm not the one trying to exclude newbies from our segment of the...

RE: Changes to the Turbine Waiver test...

So, what exactly is this "easy remedy" ? Is the JPO going to arrange the loan of a larger model for such applicants to use in their demo flights, or donate the funds for said applicant to buy an...

RE: This could not have happened at a worse time...

That's what happens when RC models and full-scale aircraft fly simultaneously from the same site within the Bermuda Triangle. The model gets sucked into the void created by the fullscale aircraft if...

RE: Changes to the Turbine Waiver test...

According to the facts I've been told by various AMA officials, it was the AMA - not the external insurance carriers - that came up with most, if not all, of the restrictions.

Furthermore IIRC...

RE: Changes to the Turbine Waiver test...

Correction - per the AMA and the JPO, you must have a waiver to operate a turbine if you are an AMA member, regardless of where you fly, and regardless of whether you expect to be covered by AMA...

RE: Dragon wing failure.

I must be missing something ... if the tube is insufficient for the task at hand, and the customer already paid for shipping on the kit that should have been correct right from the start, why does he...

RE: Dragon wing failure.

LOL - have you noticed that sometimes it's difficult to determine whether a poster is really a 12 year old who is trying to pose as an adult, or an 'adult' who behaves like a petulant 12 year old ?

RE: Tailormade decals vs. Pro-Mark?

I tried that plus ever other trick I heard about, and still could not get many of the pro-mark deals to come off without so much pressure that the underlying surface was dented. I guess there must be...

RE: Tailormade decals vs. Pro-Mark?

Hi Mark,

I have used both, and personally prefer the results from the Tailormade ones even though they are more work - the end result is well worth the extra effort IMO. My promark ones were...

RE: This could not have happened at a worse time...

Kinda looks that way, since the FAA reportedly initiated their investigation AFTER seeing the video, and before any report was filed. BTW, as you said, it's not a pitts - apparently this Acroduster

RE: This could not have happened at a worse time...

Ya got that right. Wouldn't be really smart to force a landing to save your ego from some perceived negative connotations from a go-around.

Most of the time that I had to do an unplanned "round...

RE: Changes to the Turbine Waiver test...

Not many sold yet since the P20 is not widely available yet - but I know of 3 guys in my local club alone who have been looking forward to getting into the turbine side of the hobby with the smaller...

RE: Changes to the Turbine Waiver test...

Hmmm - so I guess that guys whose first turbine powered model is a little P20 or Kolibri powered model weighing less than 12lbs are now SOL ? They can't get a waiver even on their turbine powered...

RE: 3mm non-return festo-type valve?

PS - here's another style of check valve that you could perhaps use instead of the Festo style : http://www.specialtymfg.com/check_valves_brass/cv_series_ck_valves/default.asp

RE: 3mm non-return festo-type valve?

The smallest digital pressure gauges I've seen & used, were sold for a while by CJM. CJM no longer has 'em, but Sandor (Digitech here on RCU) stocked them recently - you might want to have a look at...

RE: 3mm non-return festo-type valve?

Sorry - you're right - my bad on that one - it's 4mm on the Jetcat page. I'm sure I've had some smaller versions in the past - either 3mm or 1/8" - might have to check with Festo / SMC.

RE: 3mm non-return festo-type valve?

In that case, for your one-way requirements as shown in your drawing you can probably use a small 3mm one-way coupler like the one that Jetcat supplies for propane-filling.

See part A-1005 on...

RE: This could not have happened at a worse time...

Nope - this one wasn't in Southern California, and in this case allhighspeed aircraft were banned - turbines, race planes, etc., in order to try to keep all model activity 'closer in' and away from...

RE: This could not have happened at a worse time...

Full scale aircraft crashing of their own accord is one thing ; crashing because of a mid-air impact with a model aircraft at a full-scale airport would be quite another.

At my home field we fly...

RE: 3mm non-return festo-type valve?

What exactly do you mean by 'valve' ? Are you looking for a ballcock style valve, or an adjustable rate valve, or ... ? Or maybe not a valve at all and just a one-way coupler ?
