Hehe....of course my real name is not Rube Goldberg but rather Dave, and the Whale Tail Rhode Island came from this: many many many years ago, 'bout 10th grade or so, I had a friend that considered...

RE: Magic

Cool! A Magic 20 thread that is current!

I built this one from the MK kit back in the mid-late 80's. I dug it out of the stack last week, installed a new flight pack battery and used my JR7202...

RE: Horizon Hobby Scam

Boy Howdy! That's the first legitimate reason I've seen for a company to raise prices by 47% at the drop of a hat. What is it the insured say about the uninsured visiting the emergency room?

RE: Latest jet- The Vortex 32

Ok it's been a week or so since I've done anything with the glow powered Vortex 32 conversion. I finally received the 90 degree exhaust adapter for an OS LA 40/46 engine from Tower Hobbies, and I've...

RE: Horizon Hobby Scam

Dateline September 1, 2008

Why do I buy ARF airplanes? Because the Chinese can build them and get them to the USA for less cost than I could build a similar kit.

Dateline September 3,...

RE: Horizon Hobby Scam

Scam or not, that's a 47% increase in price. If I tried to raise my professional fees by 47% at the drop of a hat I'd be out of business quick. At $189 I thought it was a good buy for a plane I'd...

RE: Long EZ .46 missing wing servo mounts?

1) Set the nose gear so that the front of the plane is about 1/2" higher at the nose than at the mains.
2) Get all the elevator throw you can get on the canard. Set the neutral position with the...

RE: Long EZ .46 missing wing servo mounts?

I seem to remember that I had to drill out my wheels as well. Bummer on the servo mounting plates. Its unfortunate that they aren't in the kit, but you should be able to fabricate them relatively...

RE: Long EZ .46 missing wing servo mounts?

It's been a couple years since I built my yellow Long-EZ and as its not here with me at the moment I'll have to go on memory. I seem to remember the aileron servos get mounted to plates with a couple...

RE: Latest jet-Vortex 32?

....but need to ask: what is the inside dimension between tail booms?

Inside dimension between the tail booms at the prop area is 17-3/8" (Seventeen and three eights inches). So an 18" prop...

RE: Latest jet-Vortex 32?

Ok, so the inevitable has been asked! As the Vortex 32 is apparently initially set up for electric power, and many of us that fly glow planes (aka "slimers" by the electric crowd:D) might consider...

RE: Latest jet-Vortex 32?

CrashPro,

I don't think it would be too difficult to add retracts to this model, and the glow powered conversion is in the planning stages at this point.

Flight #2 was yesterday...

RE: Latest jet-Vortex 32?

Yes, I have pretty much finished the build. I'm going to try it with electric power first as the firewall in the rear of the plane is built to accomodate an X mount of a brushless motor. The firewall...

RE: Rich Model Long EZ-60

The 40 size versions do not use rudders, only a servo for nose gear steering. I would imagine the tubes are like others say for the antenna wire. Left or right side take your pick. But if you...
