RE: One eye VR. Such a thing?

twinturbostang is right. Multitasking.
We have been videoing the local farms/friends places. One guy has to watch and say "right or left" to fly a property line, say 80 acres, while the other...

RE: One eye VR. Such a thing?

Yes thats it! At the price of the eyetops you could buy the car, give it to the kids and hack the eyepiece. Come out way ahead it would seem. Other posts downplay the eyetops. It would seem to be a...

One eye VR. Such a thing?

Good day.
A commercial had it the other day for a kids toy car that allowed the person to see the car and see what the car see's through a wireless cam with an eye patch type of screen.

The...

RE: Pan/Tilt mounts. Let's se 'em!

This is sort of universal to mount to different trainers. (40 size) Lets you look down your plane and runway on take off, then looks down when you are way up.

Superstitions..... bad luck?

What are your superstitions? After drilling my duroplane yesterday a gentleman walked up to offer condolences and a pointer as to what happened.

He said "you know what you did wrong"? I said...

RE: A First!...well..for me anyway

This is an os 40fp 2st. The duroplane and motor along with some other stuff was purchased for 25 bucks. It has been flown over and over and over. If there is any spare time to fly, it will go up. No...

A First!...well..for me anyway

I'm sure to the seasoned vets here this isn't a big deal, but to the many years I've been flying this was a first.

For Christmas my wonderful mother-in-law bought me a Trans-mitt for flying in...

RE: Ground Downthrust

Interesting, I'm learning. It sounds like downthrust is meant for flight.

My curiositys are on the take off.
Because you haven't developed lift, isn't the plane being pulled into the ground...

Ground Downthrust

Good day.
If I understand some of the forums, the downthrust (on a trainer) is to help overcome the lift created when adding throttle and increasing the airspeed......right?

This leads to an...

RE: Anyone fly off the snow?

I've found when you make the front ski big enough to handle the deep fluffy stuff, The angle becomes real critical. This duraplane is usually a tank. But with all the added surfaces of the ski's it...

RE: Snow Ski's

Hi BusyBear
Here are the wires pulled out of the coro and set on top. As you can see it keeps the wheel from moving forward and back, and running along the sides prevents teetering.
The main...

Snow Ski's

If you are at all like me, you hate to spend money on ski's that you hardly use. Plus you hate to mess with taking the wheels off because when you have time to fly, you waste time TAKING THE WHEELS...

RE: Anyone fly off the snow?

We use coroplast (spad material). It addresses a couple of issues
1. Leave the wheels on, they mount w/one rubber band.
2. You can make them wide enough for ANY type snow.
3. Trike isn't a...

RE: W.S. to tail feathers ratio

Thank you.
Bax, you brought up a point about the elevator % being 60%. You read the extreme fun fly and all, and they have HUGE surfaces. Could you make NO horizontal stabilizer and ALL elevator?...

W.S. to tail feathers ratio

Good day.
I've done a search and can't find what I want. I've read many a thread in here and truly am not not worthy of posting. But, is there a ratio of wing span to tail feathers and distance...

RE: Getting a trainer, when you actually dont "need" it.

Balsa Steel brings up a great point about the wind.
After drilling my Stick 40 the only thing left was the wing. The wing was built with no dihedral and sits atop a Duroplane. UGLY....yep. But...

RE: Observation-high wind vs dihedral

Thank you!
The 3 channel Kadet HAS ailerons added (making it a 4 channel). BUT in the high winds the ailerons almost won't work, max rudder and ailerons are the only way to stay in...

Observation-high wind vs dihedral

Good day.
An observation was made flying in high wind the other day. I'm checking it with the Great RCU.

A Stick 40 built with almost no dihedral was a choice for high blustery winds. 40 mph...

RE: when did you buy your second plane?

hookedonrc has a great idea.

I bought a second trainer right away (stick 40) and took out the dihedral to help on inverted flight. THEN went to an 300 extra. If you don't get a chance to fly and...
