RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

Thanks for the compliments. The Mcflyman mods threw me back some. That should definitely sell as a kit. Almost too nice to fly. That's why I keep mine simple. Then I'm the sort of person that buys a...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

They do a lot for mine. Without the struts I get some wag. The boom flex caused it. Those are DIY struts from AL tube and are firmly attached. The fin fixs some slow wag. It was very aparent that...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

I got 4 more flights in on the DF4 nightflier. It got windy a few times, and you think it can get tricky in the day, try it at night. It's at RCG, so yall come back now, hear ?
Oh, I forgot to say...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

It only took $4 of LEDs and a dowel rod + some dayglow paint. It is not easy like day flight, it took some getting used to. The light bar also helps to level roll in flight. It also makes a cool...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

I converted my DF4 to night flight. Did my first one tonight. It is a RUSH ! Flying in pitch black, you can't see the trees, wires etc, but can see the house and tool shed. I did 4 flights all...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

I think I might of stressed the esc on the 450g heli under test and it took awhile for the other two to go. I put the motor/esc back on the DF4 and had run 150 or so flights before this one went.

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

My brushless DF4 just blew the esc again. The first time, I was testing a 450g heli with a 3 cell lipo, and 2 days ago I plugged the heli in and got a flash of pink light and that awful smell of...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

I hope you all don't take this as spam, but Helihobby has Walkera 4 RTF kits on sale for $60. Maybe good news for someone.

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

Start up the marching band !!! Light up Las Vegas ! I am going to gold plate my tail motor and put it under glass. An ordinary brushed tail motor and so far I have 179 mixed 8 and 10 minute flights...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

The worst part is the first few weeks. Don't hover inside if you are having trouble, and don't go outside if there is over 5mph wind. Do practice outside where you have plenty of room to abort a bad...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

If the training skids are vibrating more than about the thickness of the CF rod, then something is out of balance.
Take the main blades off, and run the tail motor up to speed. Note vibration. Put...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

Good to mention young kids are here. When I first started, the lingo was like a bunch of US military people and I was starting to get a little raw, flashing back to my military days. I have decided...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

Stick with the stock main blades on the DF4 if you all are that high.
A better way to attach the rotor head is set the head on top of the bearings. Use two sets of needle nose pliers and get a...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

I can get an 18 minute flight with some 1500 10C lipos I have. It was an accident to do it, and it was just about to loose power to fly fast. I was doing 9 minute flights and accidentally picked the...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

Here is a peek at Walkera 1#A parts. This thing is looking good to me. It's like a belt tail CP Walkera 4, naw, really more like a belt tail Blade CP Pro or CP2.
Or then again , maybe a belt drive...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

I think loose main blades combined with low head speed causes the oscillation. I tried an uncountable number of times to run loose blades and just could not get reliable operation that way. So I,...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

He probably put the spring there to take the slop out of the cyclic.
Both ideas are good, but there are lighter ways. Both look too heavy. That weight may have been more battery capacity instead....

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

How long do those HXT500 and 900 servos last ? I have S-75's I have been getting from DX6 kits. HeliProz takes the S-75's from the DX6 kits and sells the radio and servos separate, 4 S-75's for $25....

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

DaxFx,
That is a rotor Head Core. HM-004-Z-14. You can find them all around from $3.50 to $5. Shop some.
And you need to chop the throttle before you hit something. It takes a pretty hard hit...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

DaxFx,
Just keep 2 rotor head cores, 2 flybars, rotor core bearing set, and main shaft as a spare set. All you are going to do is change what other part breaks. You should practice on the...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

Looks like a DF4 sitting on a Raptor 90. Hollywood FX ! That 4#3 will probably be popular in the winter. There is a guy making a 3D CP heli like the 4#3 on the RCG forum.

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

It would be nice. The M24's are too heavy, hard on the links and really for a CP heli. They need pitch blocks for the DF4. These clipped blades are actually working out nice. I think most effect is...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

RT,
That 1#A looks good, but if they monkey around and go slow on the marketing again, I will probably just get a CP2 and put an HDX 300 tail, belt, and boom on it. Or even get that RC Fever CF...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

What ever happened to SuperBlades ? I was hoping for them to come out.
I compare the stock blades to flying a real Cessna 150 with the flaps down. Similar to the Walkera 4 situation, it is a...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

The DF36 canopy only needs some nips to clear the swashplate link rods and to attach near the landing gear area. I did cut one way down to make the least frontal area possible and I am sure it...
