RE: Flight Schedules

Here's a few that I got from some members of RCU.

RE: Scaled Tiporare Plans

Thanks! I ended up treating the sides of the fin as an extension of the fuse sides. I used a huge piece of soft balsa glued to the front of the fin and carved it to match the top block of the...

RE: Scaled Tiporare Plans

Check out the "Tipo Max"... a 2M by 2M version that I had started when I had wanted to get back into AMA pattern. It went on permanent hold when I learned about the BPA.

RE: Curare From Scratch First Flights

Just wanted you to know, that was the best Curare I had ever seen. It was my desktop wallpaper for a while.

RE: FK SBA 60 Speeda - Build

So polyester resin can bond to the epoxy fuselage?

You really ought to have a photograph made of both the Blue Angel and the Speeda side by side and get it on the cover of Model Aviation. It's...

RE: Curare from Scratch

I agree... that's one of the best looking Curare's I've ever seen.

RE: some old pictures

No, the only thing I might still have is the wing from the curare, but it's simply too heavy to be of any use. The Kaos had a mid-air, the Curare did a cartwheel, and the Calypso was thrown away.

RE: some old pictures

Thanks for the compliments. The Fox came from my control line days. It had an unbelievable response to a tuned pipe... I don't think Mr Fox had planned on that.

Casniffer, I hope you don't use...

some old pictures

I managed to dig up a few old pictures from a family photo album that I thought I would share... since we all like pictures.

The first one is a Super Kaos 40 that I got as a gift from my dad. ...

RE: Blue Angel - Build

Yeah, how do you cut the monokote at just the right shape and outline without cutting into the sheeting? Do you cut it out when it's flat on the table and position it just right?

Where did you...

RE: A Blast from the past

I always wanted to stain my Rev-Ups back in the day to look like Asanos. Any ideas how?

I've stockpiled a bunch more for when I get back into flying again here shortly.

RE: my old glass fuse

Man, that carbon fiber tow is a great idea... it's just what I needed as I couldn't figure out how to shape something to the curvature of the inside of the fuselage. There aren't any bulkheads other...

my old glass fuse

Any tips for stiffening a fiberglass fuse? This is an old Illusion that I had bought way back in 1992, I think. I'm sensing quite a bit of flexibilty in the fuselage as I grab it with my hand and...

RE: Big Dirty Birdy

This is my 2+2 Dirty Birdy that I had started a while back as my re-enrty into the hobby. The problem is, I had built in a slight twist into the fuselage during construction. I thought you might...

RE: Tuned Pipes

I think you're wanting a "long radius" type of header that is used on Curares to get it comfortably under the wing... the normal bend on a side exhaust header would probably run the pipe into the...

RE: LA1

The LA-2 was part of the "stretched tail" revolution. It's basically a longer version of the LA-1.

Whatever happened to that historical database idea that was floated about earlier? With all of these plans suddenly available for download, I think it would be great to have not only info about...

RE: F-8 Crusader build

As of right now, there is a 1.20 engine limit in BPA, so I think I'll be fine. I don't think they're really that strict right now, they're trying to be really inclusive.

RE: F-8 Crusader build

It's definately a big plane. The fuselage rivals a 2-meter plane in length, but it's of course much thinner and more aerodynamic. The reason I'm glassing everything is for the nice appearance and...

RE: F-8 Crusader build

I really shot on the primer thick, then sanded all of it off. I'll do this again for a second time. I couldn't help thinking of "Firefox" when looking at the flat black airframe.
