For anyone still building....

If you extend the retractable landing gear / wheel right up to W2 it will give you 2 inches of clearance with a 14" prop (with the tailwheel on the ground of course).

Jeez. Sorry but I do have a question for any using the GP retracts.

I traded in my Hobbico ones for the GP's because they fit much better in the space (I wish I would have known ahead of time I...

For anyone interested....Mr Frontera also told me to stay within the limits recommended by GP for the same reasons RCmob said.

That being said.

A 12x8 prop spinning at 2000RPM (idle) will...

Is Mendes making fun of my Saito 100 idea? It was just up for consideration you know.

I am however putting the 91 in. Why not. Less weight than an OS 70 and nearly 50% more horsepower.

I've decided to lengthen the strut about 1/2 inch and then use 3 inch wheels. Mr. Frontera agrees is't OK up to W2.
He also said the biggest props they tried was a 13" which was enough to do 3D...

Silver Eagle....

Do you see any reason I could not make the retracts longer? It looks to me from the plans and your pic that there should be at least 3/4 - 7/8 inch before the wheel would get...

Thanks Silver Eagle. That pic was exactly what I was looking for. Like I said, I figured even a 13 inch prop would be too close. Now that I know, I'll have to see If I can make the gear longer...

Great Planes Ultra Sport + "In Stock"

Anyone have one built with retracts? I still want to know how big of a prop will fit. I would love to use a 14 x 6. The field I fly at is a sod farm with very nice THICK grass, it won't have a...

Great Planes Ultra Sport + "In Stock"

A question for someone who has one built.
How big of a prop can you reasonably put on the front if you fly from a grass field?

I am just starting the fuse but on the plans it looks like even...
