RE: Anyone know of a 120 degree swashplate that will work with a Raptor E550?

The swashplate controls 3 things-

collective pitch (swashplate slides up or down)
"elevator" cyclic pitch (swashplate tilts forward or backward)
"aileron" cyclic pitch (swashplate tilts left...

RE: Anyone know of a 120 degree swashplate that will work with a Raptor E550?

The radio is a Hitec Eclipse 7. The stock swashplate is 90 degree. The eclipse 7 has 3 modes- Normal (old school M-CCPM), 120 degree and 180 degree. I thought I could get it to work in 180 degree...

Anyone know of a 120 degree swashplate that will work with a Raptor E550?

The subject line pretty much says it all, my radio can only do 120 degree CCPM so I either need a new radio or a new swashplate for my E550. I figured a swashplate would be cheaper...

RE: Raptor E550 needs ball links that aren't garbage

Thanks for the input guys, I'll probably try the JR or Mavrikk ball link sizing tool and see how how that works out. Now all I need is a decent 120 degree swashplate and I should have a viable RC...

Raptor E550 needs ball links that aren't garbage

I need to strip my recently assembled E550 of all the original servo linkage and replace it with something that doesn't require 10 million ft-lb of torque. The amount of friction and binding with...

RE: Best BL motor for 550 size?

I take it you'rerunning the Zippys in series?

With a 6S PolyRC 3000I was getting about the same flight time just hovering at various altitudes in my backyard. Once I install the Hacker, I'll take...

RE: Best BL motor for 550 size?

Looks similar to the one I have now, a bit small for a 550 size heli. I decided to go with a Hacker A40-10L. If Neu could produce more than one motor per month I might have gone with them.

Best BL motor for 550 size?

I converted my Raptor 30 to brushless and it flies great, but my poor little Turnigy SK3548-1100 is too hot to touch after an 8 minute flight. I need something a little bigger and/or more efficient....

RE: Is there any advantage to going with a higher amp ESC than you need

There can be, it depends on howyou determine the size you"need". Amp ratings alone don't tell the whole story. You don't want a hot running ESC.</p>

RE: What do you do?

I'm an electrical engineer. I work for an engineering consulting firm and spend most of my time arguing with contractors about how to read plans and specs. It's a complete and pathetic waste of an...

RE: Sonic 25 needs a real motor

I dropped in a larger battery and noticed a nice increase in static thrust. This thing is nuts! Just the way l like it...

RE: My first Electric plane

I've flown planes off and on for the past 15 years but was never that hooked until I tried brushless electric. After I converted my Sonic 25 to electric, my nitro heli and 1/8th scale buggy (that...

RE: Sonic 25 needs a real motor

I finally got this thing finished and had a chance to fly it today. I love the way it flies now! Unlimited vertical is sooo cool. I might need to find a more robust battery though, it got a bit...

RE: Sonic 25 needs a real motor

I'm not sure if this would be the best configuration, but I was thinking I'd have the battery at the bottom of the fuse (just behind the firewall) and the ESC somewhere above it. The bottom of the...

RE: Sonic 25 needs a real motor

Attached is a picture of how the brushless motor is mounted (although I need to rotate it 180 degrees). I removed the original nylon engine mount and used 1.75" long alum. spacers with metric hex...

RE: Sonic 25 needs a real motor

Under static conditions full throttle current draw from the battery was ~55A if I remember right. The motor didn't really get that warm, which surprised me. Once in the air the plane should cruise...

I've got 3 year old fuel that's been stored in my basement and it's perfectly fine. The key to long term storage is keeping the bottles at a constant temperature. If you've subjected your fuel to...

RE: Sonic 25 needs a real motor

I ended up with a rather odd combination:

Motor- Rimfire 42-50-1000
ESC- Mamba Monster
Battery- PolyRC 4S 30C 3000mAh

In the limited testing I've done it seems to work pretty well. ...

RE: smoking a lipo

That is a good thread. I posted a rather pointed reply to Jason but then realized it was in the mfr. support forum so I decided to delete it. Companies like MaxAmps really bug me.

MaxAmps is Max Mystery. Try contacting them for technical information on their batteries. Who makes their cells? Will they share any of their discharge tests with you? No and no. These guys seem...
