RE: Swastika & Iron Cross

Besides the incessant advertising, pay-to-sell and general commercial feeling this site purveys, it is posts like the above that encourage me to not visit.

I miss all of you great guys but when...

RE: 53 mhz

The noise floor in my area is almost identical between 45 and 85MHz.

With receivers in complete saturation during routine pattern flights, this is a moot question.

Overall, six meters is...

RE: antenna question?

Theoretically stated, it’s line of sight. If you can see, you can control it. My guess for practical outer limits of having control would be perhaps one 1 to 1-1/2 mile maximum with the plane...

RE: antenna question?

You guys crack me up! Cut the last half-inch of insulation off the antenna for better reception! LOL

You know, to add a little Credibility, try fanning-out the strands of that last 1/2". Tell...

Fill me in, please.

RE: antenna question?

We all know what routing an antenna should take: Immediately exit the fuse by the receiver and the full length extended above or below the fuse.

But....you have to consider the signal level that...

RE: spell check

Thank Heaven we'll still have spell-check! I just came to this forum to ask that question and you've quelled (sp?) my fears. LOL

Engineers are the worst spellers. We need help! Thanks for...

RE: Four*60 engine question

Maybe a tad less floaty, but in reality, the few extra ounces doesn't make any real noticeable difference. It still floats unless your final is long and flat.

I balance at the aft recommended...

RE: Four*60 engine question

Couldn't hurt to put some hard-points in and install some flying wires, but I don't think it necessary.

When I over-power an airframe I look at the firewall first -- drilled and pinned and...

RE: Four*60 engine question

I don't think a 90 Super Tigre is too much for the 4*60. I would certainly use throttle management when necessary.

I have one with a Sport Jett .76 and Dub's tuned pipe, which should be...

Radio frequency choice?

That's the $64 question, Mike. We'd all like to know.

I have been flying 53MHz for 12 years and just went to buy some more JR649 receivers on 53 and was told they only had 21 of them left and...

midstar 40: seperate aileron servos??

I'm with MinnFlyer on this one.

Two aileron servos on a Midstar is overkill and unnecessary.

They fly just fine with only one servo (and the one you have stays clean, too! LOL)

Yellow Jacket Problems at Field

Dave, how did you know I wore a hat?

It is multi-colored, but I thought hornets only saw shades of Grey -- like dogs.

OK, I'll try to leave it in the car and see what happens....

Thanks for the link, BasinBum, but you still have to find the nest(s).

We have 200 acres.

Can you find a link for that?

Back at the stick (long)

Way to go, Charlie P! Great story...you should publish it.

It very much reminded me of the 1941 John Gillespie Magee, Jr. composition. Being pilots, I know most of you have already read it, but...

How do I tap a engine mount hole?

You don't have to tap them, although I do and I think most do, too.

Just through-drill for the size of your bolt and secure with a flat washer, lock washer and a nut or a flat washer and nylon...

engine mounting

I'm no expert by a long shot, but it looks like it lends itself to a side or inverted mounting. What do the rest of you think?
