I would guess the ribbon cable is not installed...

I would guess the ribbon cable is not installed correctly. Open the back of the radio and redo the connection.

Do yourselves a favour and just order the DC24, i did exactly that and use it as a hand radio. Put shorter DS sticks on it and swap the trainer switch over for a regular 2 pos to use as Gear switch....
