one of the best signs of being to lean is at high RPM's it doesn't preform well or bogs down...........when I'm tuning for a race with the .28's I do it to the best preformance at top end and then...

Good picture there...............thats all lean mixture there M8...........those indents in the top of the piston is called pitting and that happens when you turn the top of the piston into molten...
