I did not glue the fitting in case I need to remove it. But I used pipe tread sealant to prevent any airleak. Silicon would work just as well.

you sound experienced but my starting routine is:
transmitter ON, receiver ON
CARB at IDLE setting!
prime fuel lines.
choke ON, pull, first burp...

DO NOT add grease to the clutch, those are just air vents. On the newer models the "greasable" clutch housing extension is sealed off from the clutch, when you add grease it lubes the flex cable...

At first engine choice was homies, later came air cooled zenoahs, then water cooled zens.
I am sure it is normal the way yours is setup.

In theory you should pull out the propshaft/flex...
