I just use a small screw driver to release the two plastic tabs that hold the case closed on the pin end. You can then open the case just enough to plug in the futaba connectors with no other mods.

There are a couple of issues going on here.

Since the original question is from someone in the US I'll assume we are talking about 72 Mhz radios.

In general a 72 Mhz JR RX will not work...

Two 2 cell packs joined in series will make a 14.8V 2070 pack. In parallel you will have a 7.4V 4140 pack. You need four 2 cell packs to make a 14.8V 4140 pack.

Be sure to use the Pb setting and select 12V. Standard charging is a a rate of C/10 or (7000+7000)/10=1.4 amps for 10 hours for a full charge.

The batteries are in parallel not series. You will need to charge at 12 V. Amperage will depend on the batteries.

SR recommended a 10 cell pack. The plane will fly on that setup. However today there are much better power systems available.

I would suggest an Eflite Park 450 outrunner, Castle Phoeinx 25 AMP...

Flaps should be ch 5 not 6. Also turn off flaperons.

When you want to do crow,

turn on flaperons and plug one aileron into ch 1 one into ch 6.
