Chris, stop by your local sporting goods/gun shop and pick up a 25 pound bag of lead shot. #7 would do nice. Seperate this into ziploc baggies, and or cloth bags. This makes nice weights and takes...

Do a search for skybolt plane. You can find a lot of pictures of the full scale plane. Thought maybe you would be interested in working toward scale projects.

At least with the aileron servos on top you won't have to worry about snagging on grass.
