RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Ditto on using the stock plastic over the alloy. The only place the MT2 really needs alloy is the front steering knuckles, the stock plastic is preferable everywhere else. Your car does look great,...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

I say you need to break out "old reliable" and run it as well. You can't forget your first love, especially when it's been so good to you in the past. I hate to think of it sitting on your shelf,...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

46u: I run 20% as I don't race (yet) and don't want the hassle of shimming the head to run 30%. I hope to race some day but there are no tracks anywhere close to me ATM so it's not really a viable...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

46u: I would NEVER run the basher blend, I am aware of oil content and will not run anything over 12% and prefer to run 8-10%. The only thing my OS 18 has seen has been O'donnel 20% race blend and I...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

No, it's very light at 4.7 lbs or so. I haven't heard of any who run theirs in the snow having sinking probs. They all report it works great and is major fun. Wish it would snow where I'm at, but it...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Throw on some paddles and waterproof the electrics and it will tear the snow a new a**. Many posters in this thread who are lucky enough to live where it snows have run their MT2s in it and it does...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

46u:
I run o'donnel 20% racing blend and plug the exhaust to shut 'er down most of the time. I do have this same oil in the bearing even if I pinch the line or it quits on it's own, so I'm really...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

On the sand note, I just got hooked up with some guys who have built a track that is not sand out in the decommissioned Fort Ord army base. The track is powder dirt and small gravel, but at least...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Uncle Vinnie: You actually don't have to cut the racing clutch to use the optional 2nd and 3rd holes, it will work just fine uncut. On my first clutch I cut it to the last hole and got it too close...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Anytime, Boohoo, just holler. Hope everything is going well, keep us posted on your progress. I'm sure the CV-RX will make you smile every time you drive it, I know it keeps me grinnin'. GL

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

My buddy just posted the video of the first race on our track on Youtube so I thought I'd post up a link to it as well. It's not a great video, as it is shot from a still tripod, but it is rather...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

As promised, here are some videos of our little track at the beach. They are not what I had hoped, as we had no cameraman. As luck would have it, I lost the setscrew on the front drivetrain, so I had...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Glad to help. I would not get the alloy diff cases if you are running the OS 18 CV-RX, as they are not as well made as the original plastic cases. They are not keyed together and do not have any of...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Even though this is an engine made for a car, for some reason they still include a drive hub for a prop. This is NOT needed for setup on a car and needs to be removed. Once you have done this, the...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

This thread has no business being on page 2, what's up with that? Anyhoo, hopefully I'll get some runtime down at our little beach track, weather permitting. It seems the winter weather is fast...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

I don't think that an alloy steering setup is needed, I'd just replace the plastic bushings with bearings (see the above post) and you will save both money and weight. I agreed totally with 46u that...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Have you tried replacing the plastic bushings in the steering assembly with bearings? No, this will not eliminate the problem you are having with one side turning more than the other, but it will...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

46u, I have a question for you. My brother-in-law just bought an MT kit used (already assembled) for $140 from our LHS. I have looked it over and whoever had the car before had set it up for racing,...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

I have seen a few people who have mounted savage bodies on their MTs, just not that particular body. Likely you would need to cut new body mount holes and possibly enlarge/change the shape of the...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

That's the correct one, 46u, I got mine at New Era models along with the wing. Both are on the MT2 hop-up page. I'm not sure if it will fit on the MT, as the shock towers are different from th MT2....

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Thought I'd share some pics of my "new and improved" mt2. Just added CVDs and switched out my HD clutchbell for a racing one. I also took the plastic bushings out and replaced them with bearings in...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Tell me about it, I'm in the same boat. I must have gotten the last mt2 at Tower hobby. I ordered mine and a day later it showed it as discontinued and had the G3.0 listed! Now my mt2 is 2 months old...

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Don't know much about the g3.0, but you need the hardened gear set for your diffs, HPI part # 86336. Make sure you shim the play out of all the gears in the diff assembly, otherwise you will be...
