RE: WACO YMF

Stickbuilder

You bring up some good points as usual. Yes, the trailing edge was not drawing up tight. As part of my 'investigation' I traced the wing profile from the plan and transferred it to...

RE: WACO YMF

In my kit the wing saddles came already shaped and the slots in the formers came already cut. These pieces basically interlock together. There should be no way to get them wrong and...

I appreciate the explanation of the aileron push rod. Makes sense to me now. It's just that it looks so different for a push rod that I couldn't imagine that's what it was. Very odd...

RE: WACO YMF

Question for anyone... Referencing the QCF pictures from skylark on page 63, post #1571, can anyone tell me the function of the 'bent pipe' looking device on the bottom of the wing connected to the...

RE: WACO YMF

This is a matter of different goals. There are builders that are willing to sacrifice a little performance for scale accuracy (as I am) and others that are willing to sacrifice a little scale...

Are you talking about your fuse being nose down relative to the stab? Otherwise, I don't understand how it can be dead level and nose down at the same time. If the crutch is level...

RE: WACO YMF

Looks to me like it's flying level. The H-stab seems to have positive incidence as the model calls for.

RE: WACO YMF

If your fuse is nose down with the wings at zero incidence then you have positive incidence with the fuse level. That's the same problem I had. The fuse (crutch) should be level first and then...

Yes, my plane is from the kit. It was built exactly per the plans and instructions but the incidences were off. I studied the situation for days trying to figure out what why it came...

RE: WACO YMF

Positive incidence is with the leading edge up. If you turn your Robart incidece meter around 180 degrees you will find it is reading the same number in the + range. It's all in which way you...

RE: WACO YMF

Regarding the cowl blisters, I have looked at all the pictures of the 'F's on the National WACO club site as well as the ones in the Raymond Brandly book on the 'F' series. In every case (except...

RE: WACO YMF

I know I'll get corrected by the experts here, but in all my studies of the YMF-3 vs YMF-5, the only difference is the vertical tail. The lateral stability of the -3 wasn't sufficient so they made a...

What happens to the 1" thick nose block (F2) when you add the 5/16" ply firewall? Is it eleminated? I've never been able to understand exactly how you do this conversion.

I already...

RE: WACO YMF

My old kit is #80612, YMF-3, and has the hardwood elevator joiner, not the dowel. Since the last three digiits are the specific kit number, maybe the 80 stands for the year of production, 1980????
