Do you have any kind of restriction or adjustment that slows down the gear? If so, I would remove that so that the gear moves up as fast as possible. You can slow them down on extension, but I've...

You know what guys, I mistook this thread for the one Dom did on his Xtreme Jets F-4. This one is the larger FB F-4, which I believe Dom lost to a radio failure (bad pots in his Futaba 12FG TX). I do...

Mine is holding up fine so far (knock on wood...)

Do note that you have to grind away some of the rear hatch area and possibly some of the aft corners of the engine mounts to actually get it into...

The 160 definitely won't be too much for it, I think it will be fine. If you have a larger strip to do the test flights and get used to it, you may find that getting into and out of your shorter stip...

Yes, I flew mine off of grass at the Farview event last August. It worked fine, but the takeoff roll was longer, as expected. I can't say for sure if 120m is enough to get off. What's your power...

RE: Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

Dom,

I'd say yes to both although I was unsure how often the Navy and Marine F-4's used their chutes. The chute that Dan Gill makes for the Skymaster F-4 is easily adaptable to the FB F-4.

RE: Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

You're referring to the testing I did with the Futaba FASST system on the UAV? In that case, it was programmable. During initial system testing, we had the UAV autopilot setup so that when the...

Dom,

Did they weather it, or are you going to have to do that?

Yea, geeze Dom, get it right. :DHey what are you doing online at 7:30 in the evening, you should be shooting paint on that L-39! Ups, I guess I should look over there and see if you're posting...

RE: Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

I have two Jetcats that look like Dom's... [:o] I guess I need to send them to Mr. Bob and see what he can do with them... I need one for my BVM Mig and another for a replacement F-4. If only I could...

RE: Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

Dom,

Congrads on the F-4! I really miss mine - it left *way* too early. I've been eyeing the small one from SM - more suited to my trailer and would be good with a P-120...

RE: Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

Pete,

I thought that the NOBS batteries are Sanyo cells? I have been using Sanyo cells for quite a few years with great luck, but my local source just went to really cheap Chinese cells, so I...

RE: Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

I work on UAV systems that use commercial RC gear, so we have to deal with this all the time. There are two ways that EMI can get into an RC system and cause problems. The first, which we had to deal...

RE: Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

Dom,

I think you have to take what you learned and go back to Futaba with the TX and see what they say might have happened. I would think that you could contact Bax directly, point him to this...

RE: Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

Please let us know what Bob says about the failsafe. I also have a P-80 that looks like your motors, but the ECU was somewhere in the ashes and I don't think that my motor will be worth...

RE: Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

Rich,

Thanks for the info. Way back when, when I was flying Airtronics, I lost a helicopter to a glitch on a PCM system (which again, shouldn't happen on any PCM system, 72 MHz or 2.4...) I sent...

RE: Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

Dom,

I don't think it was interference. We lost a UAV on FASST to interference from an on-board video system. It was a 1.2 GHz system that was VERY noisy on 2.4 GHz (the 1st harmonic). In that...

I am SO sorry for what happened to you. It makes me queezy just to think about it.

I had an eerily similar experience with my T-45 two weeks ago...

RE: Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

I don't think I would recommend an F-4 as a second jet. An F-86 would be a better bet, but not the best. The FB F-4 comes in at around 26-28 lbs and the F-4 is not a very forgiving airframe in the...

RE: Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

I hear ya. I did it the other way - after hanging the ordinance I needed a break on something else so I decided to get all of my other jets ready to go. I was waiting on the engine anyways,...

RE: Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

Are you going to do the ordinance for the F-4, or did you already do that?

I've almost finish my maintenance chores and then I can finish the F-4. I just glassed over the ABS intakes...

RE: Maj. Woody's FeiBao F-4J Phantom

Dom,

That's Model Master flat clear that you used? Also, you did a second sheet of nomenclature. Did you print that out yourself?
