RE: Dave Patrick super cub

Oh, yes, most certainly. Probably in 2 to 3 months. I've been building a lot of planes and Gordon only puts one of mine in each issue

OK, I'll be the first.

Stock all-white DP Super Cub Clipped Wing with OS 160 twin.

I put the orange sunbursts on along with striping tape.

RE: Dave Patrick super cub

Has anyone out there jumped off the deep end and used a, (dare I say it), Zenoah G-26 on their DP Super Cub?
Yes, I know, they're heavy, they're lower powered, they're heavy, the cylinder will...

RE: Dave Patrick super cub

How about following the advise of my tag line.

Use a dab of JB Weld do secure a pair of 4-40 bolts and lock washers, pointing down, to the bracket.

Slip the strut fittings up onto the...

RE: Dave Patrick super cub

To Cap'n Jim:

Be aware that 4-40 pushrod wire is a whole lot softer than a bolt shank. Over time it may wear or break.

Great idea, and it saves you a little time, but normal bolts may...

RE: Dave Patrick super cub

The top cover is clear. I think a smoke tinted cover would look better though.

Holes "wear out" ? They only hold the piece of plastic in place. Did you harden the wood threads with thin CA?

RE: Dave Patrick super cub

It isn't mentioned in the manual but it's a squarish clear plastic sheet with 4 holes in the corners.

And those holes actually match up to the holes in the top of the fuselage!

What a...

RE: Dave Patrick super cub

On the OS 160 twin, the carb level is beneath the cylinders.

The tank centerline is just above the spray bar in the carb.

Good old suction pulls fuel into the carb.

RE: Dave Patrick super cub

To John Redsox:

The 160 doesn't need mufflers or muffler pressure. It's really quiet on straight pipes.

The carb on the OS 160 is quite low and the tank has to be mounted lower than the...

RE: Dave Patrick super cub

I set the engine square with the firewall. There may be some right or down or both built in.

Dave Patrick knows what he's doing. I never second-guess a good designer.

RE: Dave Patrick super cub

I added fender...

RE: Dave Patrick super cub

My white one showed up at the shop this morning. It's a scale model of a real full sized Super Cub built in 1994, a 150 HP version.

I plan on using an OS 160 Twin under the hood.

It looks...
