Is it normal for the battery to get very hot, like melt the cover some when only running a single battery?

When two batteries are run in parallel I get no heat problems.

The diff lube is way thicker than shock oil. The tires are real easy to take off and remount. By time i got to the last one it only took me about 15 min, the screws take time to do if ya do it right....

Right, thats the setup I run but with the stock batteries. Not once have i had the ESC shutdown from heat. Let us know how it does with the lipos. Gonna be a blast im sure till ya hit something...

Make sure you are not in lipo mode. The light on your ESC should be red. Make sure your battery is good. Check your gear mesh on the pinion and spur.

The stock pinion that came installed in the truck from the factory is a 28T. The other pinion that came in the box is the " speed pinion a 23T" Yes the higher the teeth count and the bigger around...
