RE: Jett .35 Viper Plane Setup

Can I use the backplate screws that came with the Jett engine to attach it to the engine mount of the Viper? Or do I need to purchase longer screws. I mounted it with the Jett screws and it seems...

fiberglassing

hi. I bought a Viper RTC (ready to cover) plane. The fuselage and wing need some fiberglass.

If I remember correctly, I basically should use some 3M spray to position the fiberglass cloth then...

Jett .35 Viper Plane Setup

Hi. I've purchased a Great Planes Viper to put my .35 Jett onto.

I looked at the online instructions for the Viper and had a few questions.

1) What is the best bubbless tank to put in the...

RE: Jett .35 RPM range (new)

That is the only thing I could think would be the problem, but it's hard to believe that with a bublbeless tank and that small of a difference between engine angles, I would lose 1500+ RPM. I'll...

RE: Jett .35 RPM range (new)

That is the only variable that I changed and received RPMs that were in the range that Jett suggests. I rotated the engine so the muffler was pointing down and got 19,000 + RPM with a 8x6. However,...

RE: Jett .35 RPM range (new)

Well, still no luck with the engine. To review, I'm using it on a Sig Wonder, but I'm unable to get more than 17,000 with an 8x6 APC. I installed a bubbleless tank but no difference in performance....

RE: Jett bubbleless tank

Yes indeed, I was fueling the pressure line. I used the center line and it worked.

RE: Jett bubbleless tank

Sounds like I may have done that. So would it be the line that comes out of the center of the tank cap for fueling?

Jett bubbleless tank

Hi. I got a 4 0z bubbleless tank for my .35 Jett.

I followed the directions, but if I go full throttle, the engine dies.

The tank came with two colored fuel lines.

Blue line come out...

Landing Gear for a Wonder?

Hi. I had some issues with my Jett .35 on my Wonder, so I had to rotate my engine so it is now horizontal. This will keep the carb inline with the fuel tank and hopefully keep the engine from...

RE: Jett .35 RPM range (new)

Hi again.

I returned my .35 Jett and had Jett take a look.

He said he got normal RPMs, but said it looked like sand had been run through the engine. Very worn. This was after about 30...

Anyone used Byrun Brand Fuel?

I'm going to give it a try.

RE: RPM range for Jett .35?

Bought a gallon of Byron 15% with a castrol/syn blend. Put on an 8x6 APC and easily got 19000+, but didn't push it.

I'll try some additional props tomorrow.

RE: RPM range for Jett .35?

Thanks for the posts.

I received the engine today. New Merlin plugs. I will pick up a castor blend and give it another try.

RE: P-39 Airacobra / Global Quality Kits Build

Would you possibly still have those plans, and if you do would you consider selling me a full size copy of them?

No. Did not save the plans. Still have the plane. Need to replace the fire...

RE: RPM range for Jett .35?

Houston is 97 feet, while I'm at 642.

I'm using Cool Power 15%. Bought if a few weeks before the engine arrived. Jett suggests a 15%.

I'll see what happens when I get the engine back.

RE: RPM range for Jett .35?

From Jett:

So if the engine is getting fuel (and it is) and the tac seems to be ok, why would I be getting a consistent 2000 RPM difference on each prop?

RE: RPM range for Jett .35?

Well, I tested my tac on the flouresent light and read a steady 3600. I tested the engine from behind the prop and not directly in front, but that shouldn't matter. So I'm really not sure what is...

RE: RPM range for Jett .35?

Well, Jett took a look and got the normal RPM range on his tac. So I guess it is my tac.

Anyone know where I can get a better tac?

RE: RPM range for Jett .35?

Talked to Mr. Jett. I was only getting 18000+ on the 8x6 and he said it should get at least 20000. So I sent the engine back for him to take a look.

RE: Plane Cleaner

Windex should work. Use cloth towels (old T-shirts) rather than paper towels. Use Pledge to really make her shine!

RE: RPM range for Jett .35?

It was the prop. 9x6 was too big. I put an 8x6 and it is now 18000.

RE: RPM range for Jett .35?

Yes. Brand new. I did not change anything out of the box (needle, idle, etc.)

Muffler sleeve is correct.

Wondering if it may be my tac. My tac

But it sure doesn't sound like it is...

Jett .35 RPM range (new)

Hi. Just fired up my first Jett .35.

Didn't move the needle valve since it arrived and put on a 9x6 APC. I only got around 15800 RPM. I leaned it to about 16500 and it burned out my factory...
