RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Hi guys, I know you haven'y seen me post on here in a long time. That is because I had sold my C-50 project a while back. I did however just post a complete lighting set for the plane in the...

RE: Don Smith P-51 Build

I have not done anything on the Smith P-51 or the Bobcat other than gather parts. I bought a set of retracts and a 95cc Sacks with electric start for the stang. Not sure if it will fit yet. Would...

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Wow Murphey, decals! Does this mean we are getting near completion? Can't wait for somebody's first maiden flight. You guys got me going on the retractable lights now. Mine is kind of on hold, still...

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Very cool but I meant the Don Smith model. These are pretty rare birds in the model world I guess. Bill

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

I'm not in a hurry. Now I have to get my fleet ready for flying season! Finally spring is here kinda. They are predicting 2-6" more snow tomorrow night, will it ever stop. I figure I'll gather parts...

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

I haven't been doing much other than gathering parts. I had the Saito 170R sold but then I made the mistake of opening the box and looking at it before sending it out! I decided to keep it and I have...

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Thats another reason why I changed my mind to gas. I can get away with smaller tanks.

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

There is limited room in the nacelles so I didn't want the clutter of electronic ignitions. It has two micro servos mounted already for throttle control and one small air tank on each side for the...

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Thanks Jeff, I think I'm going to go with the pair of G-23's. I'm old school so a magneto powered engine doesn't bother me!

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Thanks for the input onthe engines. I have my radial on E-bay and already have a bid on it. Would have sounded nice but between the cost of two of these, the glo drivers and the exhaust, I could...

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Thanks for the info Jeff. I think that the Fuji 24's would do about the same, just the plug tip sticking out. I want to make sure I have enough power in case one engine goes out to get her in. Bill

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

No Problem. I am having second thoughts about the radials in my bird. I would still need triple glow drivers and keleo ehhaust and then its finding room for all this stuff in the nacelles. I may go...

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Rich, I don't need two g-23's, the plans or the retracts. I need the cowls, nose and tail piece and the canopy. Can you use the retracts and the engines? I'll see what he wants for the whole package....

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Rich, I stumbled accrossit surfing the net looking for lighting for my Bobcat. He has very limited amounts of the Rotating beacons because they are tricky to make and take a lot of time. The guys...

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Hey Rich, he contacted me and said he doesn't want to break it up??? Between us, he would just need to off the plans and the engines. Maybe he'll change his mind. Just spent $180 on lighting for the...

RE: Updated Flite-Metal Application Instructions

I have a Don Smith 1/4 scale P-51 , already glassed. I was thinking of using flite metal but felt the instructions were vague on the website. You guys should either use real pics or put out an...

RE: Don Smith P-51 Build

Glad I found this build. I just bought a 1/4 P-51B prototype from Don Smith's estate. It's all glassed, 3 piece wing. I too want to find an engine that will fit without hacking the cowl up. Tackling...

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Hey Murphey, can't wait to see the pics. I still have not got mine onto the bench yet, still working on my Jungmann. I did get a chance to look over the work that has been done. It has micro servos...

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Not sure where I'm going with the paint. There is a Black and yellow civilian model I really like but then the camo military is nice too! Decisions decisions!

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Those were the same options I was looking at. The 240's were too big, I found out the hard way! Even if you plan on using latex, a polyurethane over it will do the trick. I just like the 4 banger...

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Hey Jeff, thanks for the heads up. I think that there are quite a few floating around. Maybe the price will come down once they introduce the 2.0???

RE: Don Smith Cessna T-50

Thanks Murphey, I don't have any problem selling/trading things on this site and I have a perfect rating which helps. Was going to downsize to a pair of os 1.60 twins but then the 170 came up. I...
