RE: FMS with over 500 models DL

I just discovered this thread (been out of the hobby a while). I tried the links in the first post, but get a message to the following effect:

RE: Confirmation on charging lead/acid gel cell

Bill, you're not hurting your battery with the wall charger if it's amperage output is somewhere on the order of C/10 (.1 times the battery's rated capacity in mAh). I've been using a 500 or 600mAh...

RE: Tiger 2 Mods

Hey Mark - My all up weight (no fuel) came out at just over 5 lbs 8 oz, which is lighter than I thought it would be. The OS 70 will pull it straight up out of sight. I rarely fly it at full...

RE: Tiger 2 Mods

mmattocks - Here's what I did when I built my Tiger2.

Mounted the engine sideways (OS FS70).
Cut off the front fuselage "cheeks" and installed a balsa engine cowl similar to my GP Ultra...

RE: Sealing Monokote edges

I've used clear dope with pretty good success. However, it does leave a "bump" that you can see in a reflection. I'm also anxious to hear what others have to say on the subject.

RE: BEST GLUE FOR CANOPIES?

Pantherman, have you done a search on this site using the words "canopy" and "glue"? If you do, I think you'll find a lot of stuff to read.

RE: OS FS-70 ll surpass broken valve springs....

Hey Big Dan -

When my 70 Surpass was new, after bench running, I ran it quite rich for the first 15 or so flights then gradually leaned it out to where I run it today (about 400 rpm off max). ...

RE: Carl Goldberg Tiger 60 Engine Recomendation

Hey threechannel -

My experience is with a .40-.46-size Tiger2 built from a kit. Mine weighs 5.5 lbs and is powered by an OS .70FS. With a 13x6 prop it's way fast. With a 12x8 prop it is...

RE: Canopy for Goldberg Tiger 60

I've ordered canopies (Tiger2) from Goldberg and had to pull down my pants, bend over, and grab my ankles while paying $12.00 for their screw-the-paying-customer shipping and handling charge. That...

RE: Current question for charging Li-Po's...

Hey russzero -

Did I read correctly that your battery pack is 1550 mAh and your charger max current is 800 mAh? There's your problem. At max charge rate of 800 you're looking at at 2 to 2.5...

RE: What's that math about propeller disks again?

Another consideration is that AT THE SAME RPM, a 12" prop's tips are travelling 20% faster than the tips of a 10" prop (I think it's a direct proportion). Having 33% less pitch (4 vs 6) reduces...

RE: Z Bend Help

A big Amen for Bill's suggestion -

I recently noticed on a couple of older models that my Z-bends are gradually "wallowing" out the hole in the servo arm. I make very clean Z-bends without a...

RE: Request help identifying this plane

Back to IDing the plane - I just looked at the profile of my old GP Ultra Sport 40 and the vertical tail surfaces aren't swept back as much as yours. There was kit out a few years ago that was...

RE: Li-poly

Jason -

If the wall charger your foamie came with is labeled for use with lipoly, it's ok to us it. It's probably 1000ma or less, can only be used with 3-cell (3S) lipo packs, and may take a...

RE: Running out of fuel on down lines.

Gotta go with downunder and Bax on this one. At idle on a downline the airplane is being influenced by drag, but the fuel in the tank isn't. Even on a powered dive I'm pretty sure the fuel...

RE: K-66 Tiger 2

I have an OS 70 Surpass in my T2 spinning a 13x6 APC prop. I usually fly it at about 2/3 throttle. At full throttle it is way fast and has unlimited vertical. Total weight is 5.5 lbs. BTW, 1...

I guess I'll just have to live with the range checks I'm getting. The glitches aren't major and are happening to other flyers at the field on frequencies close to mine. I may try switching my Rx(s)...

RE: armarol in glo fuel prvents

I've been using Armorall for years, also - just a few drops in a gallon, not even one full squirt. My OS70 still screams on the same glow plug I put in it after break-in three years ago. The plug...

RE: Gel Cell Charging?? Quick Question

The 700 mAh charger won't damage your battery if it's left on too long. Just don't leave it on more than 15 hours at a time. I never time mine - I just give it 8-10 hours every once in a while and...

Here's a thumbs-up for Hitec: I just got my 3-year-old out-of-warranty Eclipse7 Tx back from them 12 days after I sent it in. Range checks had deteriorated and rudder trims had started to "move...
