RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

Remember to get Blue LockTite, not Red. Blue can be cracked loose. Red is more or less permanent. It should be commonly available at any hardware store or hardware aisle. If your car has a two-speed...

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

No. It should only spin when engaged by the clutch shoes. If it engages as soon as the engine is running, the clutch spring has failed in some fashion.

In answer to your second question, I...

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

If I were you, I'd be looking for another reason why the you're breaking one way bearings. No one else has posted about problems with the bearing.

One of the batteries may have popped out of the holder.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

I just tested my Tornado today with the upgraded pinions (18T & 23T). With the stock VX .18 engine, it topped out at 48 mph using 20% nitro. I tried leaning it out for a speed run but head...

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

Yes but do it gradually and make runs between each adjustment. Figure it's just like any automotive transmission. You only want it to shift when the engine nears its rev limit.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

I messed with the tension on the shifting assembly and noticed that it didn't shift gears. Since the tensioning screw was as loose as it could be without falling out, the little engagement arm HAD to...

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

One of the first things I'd do is order spare front lower A arms, dog bones, and C-hub carriers. You will hit something and they will break. It doesn't even have to be a particularly hard impact.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

I considered that but decided to try and get a car for it that isn't a Redcat. Might be interesting to see how a different company engineer's its cars.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

How many companies resell this buggy under their own brand? I was looking on the Raidentech site and noticed that their 1/10 nitro buggy is identical in every way to the Tornado.

Raidentech...

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

The supplied link is for the incorrect engine. The link below is for the engine with the standard crank except it doesn't have a pull start.

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

Wish I'd seen this post before I clicked on the link and ordered that engine. Someone should go back and correct that original post.

Anyone know what cars require this short crank engine?

RE: Redcat Racing Tornado Thread

For a little more top end speed, will the 18T and 23T pinions work in the two-speed tranny? In stock form, my Tornado tops out at 48 mph.
