RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Based on his pics, he doesn't seem to be hitting the fuse with the horn... so moving it closer to the hingeline and shortening the clevises won't give him any more throw... the pivot point is still...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

In this instance the servo arm is offset to allow for cross cable geometry (to comspensate for the ARC of travel). This is common.

Moving the rudder horn closer to the hingeline won't have any...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

With being up north there... I'd think this would be a "get ready for next year" plane anyway... you'll have time to wait a little for more options to appear.

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Or imagine if they released say... an 85cc that was only 1/2 pound lighter than other 80's but put out even MORE power... :)

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Yeah... in our never ending search for making things lighter... we must come to the conclusion that there are some things we simply won't sacrifice.

Peace of mind is priceless... :)

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

I suppose what I'd do is build it without the tailservos (or with the 5945's) and see where you stood FIRST... then if it was a MUST case, consider alternatives.

Of course loctite CANNOT be used...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

If you have a 7 or 8 channel radio, often guys will mix the elevator servos there, rather than match them with a device. The nice feature here is that each servo is plugged into the receiver, and...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Mike supposedly developed a new lamination process he calls 3D weave he says eliminates the delamination problem. Still he's been so behind that I don't know if I'd count on them being out anytime...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Do you really think it's 5:1 or 6:1??? I would guess more like 3:1 or 6 oz... still a good bit...

Measure from the potential rudder spot to th3e CG, and the CG to the front of the engine box...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Scott knows his stuff... but I cannot for the life of me figure how adding 1/2" to the distance will change anything... the offset arm places the holes in the arc of travel and maybe that's it.

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

John,

Take some measurements from thesame point on the rudder TE to the pivot points on the horns...

It appears (could be an optical illusion in the pic) that the rod is ever so slightlly...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Most likely the issue now is that one cable is slightly longer than the other... and the offset arm sevo is slightly off 90 degrees (subtrimmed).

Check to make sure the linkages are also the...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

You don't have to keep wiping for an hour... maybe 15 minutes after final set.

It's water cleanup too and doesn't require any mixing. I don't run out of epoxy near the end of a run, and I...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

No need to align them because by "default" they are aligned by the slots they reside in. If the slots are off then there is nothing you cna do about it other than try and re-slot it. They have been...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Nice work erjpilot,

I don't think I've ever seen anyone use a full 4' stick to pin a firewll, but it certainly can't hurt! Nice job.. .;)

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

You won't have any problems with the bellcrank.

I normally attach the pull-pull wire to the bellcrank and run a length out the pull-pull exit. Then pull the wire tight and slide the it up and...

I should also mention that when this issue arises most is when we want to try and setup a plane for both IMAC AND 3D as they require significantly different throws, and to do it in the most effective...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Often linkage can be adjusted to reduce throw... without adjusting the ATV's or significantly hampering mechanical advantage. Servos are rated at 1" from shaft (1" horns) and often we use 1.25' &...
