RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2

Larry:

Those cameras can be susceptible to EM fields when placed near the motor or electronics. It's just like if you place an electric fan near an (older) TV or computer monitor; you will see...

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2

I ordered replacement parts to repair my little Blade CP. I will feel way less nervous learning on that machine than the gasser. If I break something, it will likely be $10-40 instead of $100-400...

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2

Take a look at this post, contains the photos I took at the FunFly today. No, no photos of me in the air. I suppose I could have asked someone to shoot, but, oh well...

Fine tuning: Dialing in the tail servo, fine-tuning the engine needles, minor stuff.

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2

I spent about 10 minutes total hovering, so a tank will get me about 20 minutes.

MA machines are extreme quality. The problem is they are expensive to fix. For example: The main head block...

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2

SUCCESS! Hovered a half tank today and finally got everything together roughly. Still have some super-fine tuning, but I am happy again. I should be able to fly at the fun fly tomorrow!

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2

Larry:

Great flying. You're better at nose-in than I am :)

Hovered the gasser today for the first time since the Crash on Monday. During the hover I straightened out the tail servo and...

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2

Sorry chuck, no video. Will photos do?
As far as I can tell, my battery got low and it went into failsafe. I was about 20 feet up and didn't have headspeed for an auto...

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2

Things went VERY well. We went from first-time start after rebuilding the carb (and all the needle-tuning that goes with it) to a fully-functional and flyable heli. Now all I need is a...

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2

Actually, this thing barely smokes at all - it runs cleaner than a weedwhacker. No smoke at all unless it's being started for the first time of the day, and that's just when she's choked.

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2

Replacement pins are sold, but I just bought an entirely new headblock with pins for $30 shipped. I was mistaken earlier when I said the pins were broken; it apparently was JBWeld in the hole that...

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2

SUCCESS! I drilled a small hole into the sides just above the pin ends and was able to push them out that way. Not only that, but someone on Runryder sent me a link to a much less expensive head...

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2

Hey gang, it's been a while since I've posted. Glad to see all the progress and all the different models. I just started getting the gasser back together (no, didn't crash) just one thing after...
