RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

The Slimline is slightly larger therefore wont be as loud as the jtec. I will have to cut some of the cowl out on the side for it but the trade off is worth it. We removed the Secraft engine mount as...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Decided to ditch the idea getting another Jtec muffler and went with a Slimline muffler with a lot of help from Desert Aircraft in re configuring the fire wall and DA50 mount. We also got rid of the...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Its most likely a Jtec as they sell to Aeroworks!

Got a reply from Jtec. Looking like they wont replace the muffler. Saying I over tightened it. Thats laughable considering the thing has no...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Not saying all their products are bad just this one. Hope they fixed it but im not going to try another. Not taking the chance of another doing more damage to my plane.

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Yeah maybe but I was warned by someone (cant say who here) that they purchased some Jtec mufflers in the past and they failed. Hence they dont stock them. Id bet any money the Slimline wont fail....

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Nice to see a video of it. I hope its a lot smoother than how the pilot is flying it. I'm sure it will be a winner. Just worried about the no brand retracts. Aeroworks tried that and they had a few...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

I wouldnt mind one with electric power and electric retracts! Havent seen one fly yet (even on you tube) so not sure how good they are in the air, but for the price you cant go too wrong. It all...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

No would advise against that as you would void the warranty and not to mention the cost of getting it done. Will wait till Jtec respond to my email and in the mean time will visit DA in Brissy and...

RE: First Flight!!!

The only muffler that will fit the TF P51 with a DA50 and no side cowl cutting is the Jtec wrap around pitts style muffler, but its junk! Badly designed product that fails.

Pics to prove it!...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Can I get some help on this little problem.

The Robart tailwheel retract assembly seems to have come apart!

There's what looks like a retaining ring. Does this need to be pushed up back...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Looks likevi have to do the same and add a tube as well. You think they would have thought of this in the first place.

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Yeah the jtec is hollow. I was thinking of taking the muffler to a motorcycle exhaust shop to see if he can put a bushing in it. Other than that you can spread the load over a larger area with the...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Does anyone use the red form of Loctite or Permatex threadlocker on muffler bolts?

I used Loctite 243 on the Jtech pitts muffler and they still work loose. Bought some Permatex permanent...

RE: TF 1/5 Scale P-51 ARF Assembly (1ST MISHAP!!!)

Thanks Fujiman!

Yes its when it touches down but I will re-check the tail wheel again. I had the main gear set to as neutral as possible.

I had to make an emergency landing the other day...
