WACOnut
You sounds on track. I replaced all hardware with Dubro giant scale stuff, just like I've done on all my GP 1/4 scale aerobats and the like....includes the hinges.

This plane is a good...

IMHO you'll need the grunt, adjustablity and strength that two hi-torque servos provide for the aerobatics this bird will cause you to try. Just one guys opinion..

For the elevators,...

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming

I second trs3243...no such thing as a perfect 400 buck ARF, but a joy to fly...hell I stick the stars down with a little clear monokote at the edges, fill 'er up again and let 'er rip!

The gear...

Rectangle holes in the area front of the stab will accept most hi-torque standard size servos...enough room so no pesky reverser needed. I built my system out of threaded 4/40 rod and ~1/4...

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming

Hi all.

To the new fellow. The thread has good ideas. I second rcnutstoo on his notes. I've had to beef up the top "skylight"balsa. Replaced the wing strut tabs at the fuse with a solid...

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming

Hi guys.

Opening the door to get to switches for me is a hassle. It's just a hard angle with the plane on the ground. In addition, the door and hinges have not proven to be very robust.

Yah,,I use a fuel dot not a valve. Standard 3 line set-up only with larger diameter tubing.

Have Sullivan large bore stopper and cluck and supply lines up to a inline filter then the...

Thanks for the info.

So let me get this straight.. I don't need the Sullivan $50 rig with the big panel to mount and all. You've had success just going to the glow plug with 1.5 VDC...

Yah..getting in there to tighten things up is a hassle.

I probably tighten them with every couple hours of flighttime.

Once you remember which combination of extensions and such...

I'm "pants on" all the time. My guess is the pictures you see here are those "Got To Fly It Now!!" variety. The pants actually take the punishment of grass field landings and patch with a...

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming

I had to throw as much weight as possible forward.
Left mine in standard position.
Good luck.

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming

Good luck Joe. I re-seal my stars every now and then. Has not been a big problem.
Please keep us posted on the fix you propose.
I think this is a sturdy, well flying bird.
The 36 will be plenty...

RE: Don Smith plans P26 Peashooter

Hello
Anyone compared the Santich plans with the Jim Pepino plans? The Santich have no flap area and are (to my semi-trained eye) not very detailed as to servo mounting, engine mounting. On the...

I gotta tell you. The covering on this plane needs to be carefully ironed down for sure. I also keep an eye on it and re-apply the iron every now and then. I guess you could...

RE: My parkzone HABU

Hi lou1947

I bought my Habu BNF for just over 300 locally. Same place has PNP for 230. Probably free ship to you.

Just didn't think I could finish the F86 for near that price (especailly...

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming

Absolutely! If you want to take this thing vertical, you best go Big Engine. My question is why?

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming

Hi Luiz

Loops from level 1/2 throttle flight are easy (inside or outside).

Not enough power to hold knife-edge for long. Good inverted flight.

I can carry vertical for maybe three...

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming

Luiz

Saito 180 in mine for 2 seasons now. Nice scale power and sound. I use a 16x8 prop and 15% fuel.

Did buy a lot of giant scale Dubro stuff to increase the strength of my set-up.
