RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

See if you can borrow someone else's receiver to check if your servos are working ok.

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Open up the battery tray and see if the cables are still all plugged in. Look to see if anything has sustained any damage (e.g. the crystal). Your AA batteries might also have popped loose from their...

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

You can take the old servo in. It's a standard sized part for 1/10th and 1/8th cars & trucks. You can go for a high-torque, metal-geared beasty if you like. A slight upgrade from the stocker wouldn't...

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

I believe the Tornado XP came with bushings (I have the HSP equivalent i.e. VX18 2-speed, purple tray, and it came with bushings) so the earlier Volcanos might have too, hence I asked.

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Really? I have the 47T for the Savage and it definitely has a 5mm shaft! Or do you mean the cast slipper hub? I have that too, although I bought it with the MT2 slipper set - ooooh wait I think that...

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Does the volcano have brass bushings in the hubs, or bearings?

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Oops I probably should have suggested the aluminum plate that goes on the slipper hub, but if you're bolting them together then you won't need it. A 5x11 bushing would also help align the spur, but...

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Yeah the savage outdrives and diffs and stuff are all 6mm, yet the transmission is definitely 5mm.

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

The Redcat 2-speed 47T has a one-way bearing in it, so no it's not a direct replacement for the 1-speed spur. It could work with the bearing, but I've killed two of those bearings which is why I...

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

The direct drive setup - is that basically the single-speed out of the Tornado etc? The Tornado 2-speed is 42/47 so yes at least a 47 tooth fits, and I've custom-fitted a 49T spur from the Savage-X...

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread

Is he very inventive? He could sell the brushless system and then convert the Volcano into a crawler. I reckon it wouldn't be too much work to flip the diffs + casing upside down and mount them under...
