Davis Diesel Conversions

I'd say less fuel per dollar spent, slightly more torque, and a lot less noise.

Davis Diesel Conversions

For someone like me, who's served on flightlines where diesel (JP-8 for us, actually) was everywhere the smell's actually not that bad. I don't think with the 95F temps and 80%+ humidity that any us...

Dual Aileron Servos?

Also, at the speed your trainer flies (everyone's trainer) and the maneuverability demanded of it, it's no problem to load both wings to one servo. On faster and larger airplanes, you'd be putting...

Dream Ships? Post them!

What about a 'jug (P-47)? I also wouldn't mind seeing a nice twin mustang... maybe some of the naval planes like a SBD or TBM?

I'd be all-up for a Kitfox ARF. Be cool to have one if you also had...

2 or 4 Stroke??

I find 4-strokes respond quicker (the plane in flight) because they produce all their power right away, low in the RPM range compared to a 2C. This helps the plane speed up quickly - almost the same...

Why do all our garages look the same?

All my tools are model-building tools. Completely unsuitable for home improvement tasks :) What's that, you ask?

Why, that's the control tower I'm building in my back yard... right beside the...

Did you use ultra-thin CA when installing the hinge? I've worked the tar outta mine and had no problems...

Oh... it also helps to un-hook your control surfaces from time to time (from the servo...

Why do all our garages look the same?

Hey, I live in my converted hobby room. If the ceiling drywall ever fails I'm going to have a Stick 40 come crashing down on my bed!

Balsa USA Northstar

Can anyone give me any advice on this kit? Has anyone built one?

I'm looking for a fast floatplane in the .40 range. Was considering an Irvine .53 for power.

For those who've handled one,...

what's the best 25 range 2stroke for a twin application

A few problems with oversized engines:
1. Practical prop too big to clear ground comfortably.
2. Weight. The engines themselves -are- much lighter. Remember, on a 90-powered bipe weight might...

I've been considering a .53 for a Balsa USA Northstar. Going for speed....

Kyosho Gee Bee engine recommedations

OS's .91 FX (Like so many other companie's larger-than-sixty's) fits the same mount pattern. It's also real close weight wise.

Of course power wise it's overkill. A bit like swatting one...

Ultra Stick 60 and 9C radio

And the problem with straight up is?

Heh. Yeah, it could nose over or do something else horrible. Or... if you don't have enough motor on it to fly it to mars (Like the phreaks who put Saito...

YS Lovers - YS-110!

Just another type of supercharger as far as I'm concerned.

The fact that they do it without putting an extra set of rotating air pumps on the engine is beside the point.

Heh... figures it'd be in Japanese before anyone saw it here. Not that Japanese stuff isn't good...

Why is the 8uaf so popular?

The 8UXX was the next radio for me - 'till the 9C came out. I currently own a Super 6 (T6XAs) Futaba 6-channel and it's been an outstanding radio.
I think the 8U was a level of computer control...

One more thing...

I think some of the people who're set on a pattern for a field derrive this from safety requirements of full-scale airports.

Sure... sometimes this applies. But it really...

My point is that one of the biggest reasons people fly r/c is for the DYNAMICS of it. You restrict everyone to cast-iron pattern and you make the dynamic static. Some people will enjoy the 'how...

I find that a Saito 72 installed in the same place as an older (11 years) .65 magnum sucks about the same amount of gas. Saito is turning about an inch more prop dia. wise with same pitch.

Yadda-yadda. SO you want to punch the pattern with your pretty maneuverable plane. I guess we're lucky we have room for 2 full patterns. The speed-plane guys take one, doing max airspeed - the...
