I always keep a couple white towels in the van to throw over the cockpit. I've seen canopies melt even on cool sunny days and some dark parts of my planes get too hot to touch.

There is a very long T-1 thread already so no need to start a new one. FWIW I have a T-1 and use a 12ch Assist and an R3 in dual mode with a Dual battery switch. No problems after about 75 flights.

Do you have any delay set in the "SERVO" menu? There are multiple places where you can set a delay to slow down flaps but I would check the servo menu to make sure they are the same.
