RE: Looking into competing and have questions

Does the bigger plane help? Absolutely. I'm not going to lie. Look at it like this... you can use a tack hammer to hammer a 10d nail, or you can use a framing hammer. The framing hammer will sink the...

RE: Looking into competing and have questions

Your giles would work fine. I started out with a Midwest Giles with a SuperTigre 1.43 (2300) about 8 or 9 years ago.

As for contests close... there are at least three in Illinois within 3.5...

RE: Why didn't Lusterkote match Monokote?

I made this mistake quite a few years ago. ...NEVER AGAIN!! I ordered 3 colors to finish a cowl and canopy for a 33% Extra: yellow, true red, and royal blue I think, along with the primer. Of the...

RE: Is it necessary to have digital servos to be successful flying pattern or IMAC?

Let's look at it this way... Digital servos are just another tool in your toolbox to help make your flying easier. Do you really NEED a pneumatic framing nailer to build that new house? Not really....

Jason,

Welcome to the North Central!!!

You've received some excellent advice here.

Before you go:

RE: practicing the unknowns?

For me, it's not about practicing the unknowns as much as it is preparing for them.

First off, know the aresti!

As soon as you get your unknowns start studying them. Look for any figures...

RE: Engine Choice for WH 33% Extra 260

I've got this very combo now......In a word......WOW!!!

If the ultimate power to weight is what you're looking for, this is the combo. I swapped out my zdz80 single for this motor. It balances...

RE: extra 260 wing servo

What I did on mine was cut a hole in the wing root and put a matchbox in each panel. I then made a ply hatch to fit over the hole and attached a 6 inch extension to the matchbox. I know you said you...

RE: 33% extra wing screws

Tom and others,
I should probably explain the creation of these particular bolts. When I built my 260 2 years ago, I installed a cannister in the fuse. This forced me to put the gas tank up higher,...

Did someone say Giles????

Tom,
I saw in your "new website" thread you mentioned a new 103" Giles under development. Can you give any more information on this? Will the airfoil be similar to the 260? I've been flying the 260...

RE: carden 35% 260 liftoff

I'd be interested in the balance issue as well. I've got a BME 115 on the way and am contemplating getting this airframe. Would this motor just be too light.....if that's even possible?

Thanks

RE: Best Plane ~33% for ZDZ-80s??

I have the wildhare 260 with the ZDZ80. This combo is perfect. The plane flies like it's on rails.

Just an FYI, the wing problem Bill Hempel had was due to missing wingbolts, NOT to structural...

RE: What Plane For New ZDZ 80

Unfortunately, I don't have any video of my WH. I can't really comment on the 3D capabilities of this plane. I just don't fly 3D....for me, I find more satisfaction in drawing that...
