If you get the Flux I would suggest getting drilling holes in the chassis on both sides of the ESC and getting some bailing wire to strap it down. I went through 2 ESC flying off on big impacts. ...

So hypothetically with lipo mode enabled on the ESC I should be able to go between both types of batteries with no real issues?

And by not enabling lipo mode you only risk discharging you lipo...

These are the batteries I use in my truck......I would recommend cutting it open and buying deans bars and soldering the cells together it made a HUUUUGE performance difference!!!

I haven't run LiPo's but when I bought my FLUX I bought Trinity Racing packs because they were supposed to be really good batts, well after I fried them in my boat I cut them up and soldered them...

No the FLUX will only handle a 2S LiPo.
