RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I actually did not get a reply but the battery/charger set up is working great. A WHOLE lot more power. I can use my floats now with no problem. It makes loops from level flight the entire 15 minutes...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I know there is another place to sell items, I just thought I would give all the super cub fanatics first picks…

I've owned and been using all the following for about 4 months. All are in...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I have a question about a lipo battery (and charger) I just bought. It is a ParkZone 3-cell 11.1V 2200mAh 12C continuous discharge rate (27amps) battery. Is the 12C continuous discharge rate (27amps)...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Ok, I'm bringing up the topic of painting the cub again. Some one a few dozen or so threads mentioned Krylon Fusion melting their foam. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this the best all purpose...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I've been thinking about adding ailerons to my plane, but doing it an unconventional way, let me know your thoughts. I have all stock electronics and tx. I plan to upgraded to a 3-cell lipo soon....

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Ok, I moved the front contact points up, just before the foam circle cut out (see picture). Looking at other pictures of cubs with floats, they appear to balance on the front (fat part) part of the...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Thanks for the great information. I will definitely consider these specs when adjusting my floats. Once I've made the adjustment, off to the lake for test runs. I will report my progress! Thanks.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Thanks for all the helpful information about the floats. I plan to do trial and error runs with different set ups.
I took a closer look at my motor and the wire with the round orange tags that runs...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I will give it a try. Actually pushing water is not my biggest concern. I can get the plane moving across the water as is, give up elevator and get the plane in the air. My biggest problem is not...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I do see there is a difference. There is some logic to were I placed mine. I read the step should be 1/2" behind the COG. Look at the picture I attached and you can see that the step is in fact 1/2"...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

You are right. My plane tends to "push through the water" not "cut through the water". It does cut through the water if I give up elevator. My concern is, if I move the floats back, it will shift...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I just build some GWS floats for my super cub and want to give a report. The two halfs of the floats were very difficult to glue together. I tried the hot glue gun as suggested but it just melted the...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Bigtone, I love your GWS Float explanation posted on ampaviators website. I am getting a pair of floats this weekend and want to ask about the glue you use. You said you used a hot glue gun. Did you...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

My cog appears to be about 2 inches from lead edge (you state above 2 1/2 inches). I've become a great flyer of the super cub. Should I change my cog for more advance flight?

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I agree about the wind too. First time I flew it was way to windy. I got lucky and did not crash. Hold off until 3mph or less days until you get to know your plane. Once you become more familiar with...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I flew my SC the other day in 12 mph winds and a bit gusty and didn't have trouble. I would only do this if you are very familiar with your plane and understand its flight characteistics, until then...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Great info about using a lipo in the SC. I thought it was necessary to use a different ESC when using a lipo on the SC? Also, I've read about "removing the jumper in the esc/rx" but I'm not sure...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I can not understand what I'm doing wrong. I did a stall and spin one time by accident so I know my plane can do it. I take the SC up 200 to 300 ft, slowly reduce power while slowing adding up...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I've been trying and trying to do the stall and spin manuver again (first and only time was by dumb luck) but it just isn't happening. I'm headed out again now to run through 4 or 5 batteries, maybe...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Excellent explanation of a spin! When I did it the other day by accident, it did look very cool. You are right about pulling out on time because the SC was headed nose first for the ground at a high...

Thanks for posting the pictures. The landing gear looks like a perfect fit! I plan to get a pair this weekend.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Hey, that's great news. I was having problems with touch and go's. I would come in for a touch & go and the original landing gear would bend. You can imagine how it landed the second time around! If...
